well, to be fair, that's what Jade Empire was about too... =]
KotOR had far more variations in terms of combat, from weapons, to variations with each weapon, plus a host of different Force powers that just would have been far too awkward to have to hotkey for each battle and would have resulted in you having to leave out certain moves once a battle began, or having to leave in the middle of it, detracting from the real time appeal of the latter system and leaving you with the same issue of the turn based system you started with...
I would say that KotOR was more focused on combat than Jade Empire was... but I do agree that Jade Empire's system would not have worked as well in KotOR...
