Xbox 360: What Final Fantasy XIII Looks Like

Multiplatform games are rarely as scrutinized as this. However, Final Fantasy XIII's fall from a PS3 exclusive has certainly sparked countless fanboy battles that rage online and, unfortunately, in our own comments section.

Square Enix has recently released new images of the Xbox 360 version in action, and there are some noticeable differences, particularly when one looks at the Nomura-styled hairdos. We've donned the game a rather obscure nickname -- "The Reverse Ghostbusters" -- due to the visible disparity between the two versions.

Not really, I don't care about graphics much really though, just gameplay and music, sometimes smoothness of motion.

My point exactly, the scaling from Blu ray to 4 DVD's could have made things look much worse. Its still by no means an ugly game. :lol:

It made news when lots of 360 multiplatform titles started looking better than the PS3 versions because the PS3 was 'meant' to be the all conquering powerhouse console. Would be like a Fiat Punto and a Ferrari going around a track and the Punto being ahead for 10 laps and then the Ferrarri overtakes it for 1 lap. When a PS3 game finally looks better its more an 'About time' statement than news. It would also be like Halo or Gears Of War appearing on PS3 after being designed specifically for the 360 and PC and having a few jagged pixels here and there. The PS3 owners wouldnt care all they would care about is the fact that their console now has these games on it.

How about we all cheer about the fact its finally getting released in our regions & on both consoles so we can all enjoy it. While in Japan its probably in the budget section by now.

Seem as though Sony said a while back that FFXIII would ONLY run on PS3 i think its looking quite good.

It seems that the PS3 doesn't have many exclusive games anymore. They're losing a lot of them.

They never owned the rights to the Final Fantasy series anyway as it was a 3rd party title which originated on a Nintendo console. Only FFVII was published by Sony except FFX which was published by Sony in Europe only. Square Enix are free to develop games for whoever they wish.

Indeed, the game definitely could have looked a lot worse, it could have turned out like Ghostbusters on PS3. Yakuza 3 on PS3 has noticeable jaggies, but the game still looks great and is plenty of fun. Those who saw FFXIII running on Xbox 360 at X10 said it ran just as smoothly as the PS3 version, also mentioning that the jaggies were a little difficult to notice while in motion.

There's nothing wrong with caring about the visuals, but if that's all one cares about in a game, then they're really missing out on what really makes a game: the gameplay. Many were blowing this out of proportion, making exaggerated claims on the visuals, but when I see it, it's really not as bad as I thought it would be.

I still don't understand why Sony didn't get Final Fantasy as an exclusive. They just sat back for over 13 years not touching it, and this is what happens... and boy am I glad they didn't. :lol:

Guess we always have the bonus on 360 of custom soundtracks so we dont have to listen to Leona Lewis on the soundtrack too. Should have kept the original themesong and not replaced it to try and please the West. Final Fantasy series is known for its epic tracks, why replace them?

I dont mind the battle music, there has been worse than that in the series before now. Would get tedious hearing it a thousand times though i guess so i can see your point.
