Xbox Live Connection

I'm pretty sure I'm finally getting XBL within about a month. I'm also getting a new internet connection which is wireless. After this new connection is set up, will my Xbox automatically be able to detect the wireless network and connect to XBL, or is there something more that I must do?

Re: Xbox Live Connection

You need a wireless adapter. Then just go in to your network settings on you Xbox and then set all that and it should remember all the connection information.

Re: Xbox Live Connection

Yar, you need a wireless adapter and your WEP key. After you've plugged your adapter in, turn it on, type in your WEP and youre away.

Re: Xbox Live Connection

The wireless adapter will run you about $100 by the way.

Re: Xbox Live Connection

WEP keys are good enough as long as you don't **** off hackers on xbox live. I once made that mistake, but luckily I was using a private independant server at my school so he couldn't determine which xbox was mine. And then the IT people at my school got a hold on his IP address and he got bummed

Also I have a large enough wireless radius from my Town Centre that I can go onto that with my xbox.

Re: Xbox Live Connection

yeahhh...your gonna need to blow $99.99 on a wireless network adapter...and then go into system settings and put in your network password and you should be set
unless something goes wrong......

Re: Xbox Live Connection

I've been looking at wireless adapters just a little bit, and obviously I'd rather not spend the money on one if I didn't have to. Would a wireless router work instead? I know we're getting one of those already when we get our new internet connection.

And if this seems like a stupid question, just understand that I have very little knowledge about computers, internet connections, etc.

Re: Xbox Live Connection

you can hardwire the system into a router with a regular ethernet cord. it's encouraged by many because it
A) saves money one an adapter
and
B) gives you the best possible connection at all times. i have never seen lag unless it was on another character.
:D

Re: Xbox Live Connection

Hmm...I'd actually rather do that instead even though I'll have to run the cord under my house. My computer and my Xbox are are opposite ends of my house.

Even though it's a wireless router, there will still be a place to plug in that cord...right?
