Xbox Originals Download Question

I tried googling it, but it seems google has at last failed me. So I shall resort to asking you and wasting your time.

So my question, if you download an original Xbox game from the marketplace, can you still talk to friends on Xbox live? I would really hate to be by myself or using a phone. And yes, google could not find me an answer. :'(

I don't think so. You don't have access to the dashboard or the Xbox 360 menu. I tried with the Original Fable. Q_Q

So even the downloaded one off the marketplace has the same effect of the Xbox disc, the disabled dashboard?
