i don't really like the idea of the game being in episodes

1 you'll have to wait for each new episode
2 it will probably cost a loads of ms points
3 you'll need fable2 to play i'm guessing so it will just be more dc for fable2

Try reading what this thread is about. This isn't the place to discuss that.

Well of course it doesn't feel like af fable game.
It's just like Splinter Cell, they can't keep digging the same hole. To be honest if there were some new big thing threatening the world it would be Fable 1 and 2 over again with better graphics and mechanics.

Well there might be a big new evil threatening the world, but this time it might actually be threatening the whole world! Albion is not the only continent, so other Kings might come to us for help, and in return we get their kingdom and eat their pie! ^_^

OOOH! OOOH! The king we're going to overthrow is like Napoleon, only less revolutionary! Or, better yet, WE'RE like Napoleon, and get to fight a huge coalition of other nations! Less attractive, more likely: we're actually fighting a Napoleon knockoff.

EDIT: Also, mmmm, pie. I like blueberry. And apple.

... So, basically, if they don't fix every little thing that you didn't like about F2, you're going to complain that they didn't "properly assess the strengths and weaknesses of Fable. Can I assume that you will also whine like a little ***** if they use the same engine and all, or will you be more mature than that?

I'm sorry that's unneccesarily harsh, but I'm not sure how else to say it. Yes, there better be improvements to the game. On the other hand, the way you said it sounds immensely pompous, and for another (maybe a foot?) "strengths and weaknesses" are immesely subjective. You can still find people bitching that they better bring back longbows, and people willing to argue endlessly about the relative merits of the F1 and F2 magic system.

And yes, I think we've had lots of good ideas. And we've seen some of them happen. But we've also had lots of asinine ideas, pipedreams, and other crap.lus, that paragraph disagrees with itself. First, you say it has gone to waste, then you say you're sure Lionhead is in tune with their fanbase? Which is it?

i'm not contradicting myself, i'm saying that i hope that they don't let the sequel go to waste. if you think i'm being pompous please elaborate, i just largely complemented the fanbase for fable for imaginative ideas for sequels (a section i'm not horribly active in).

personally i'll probably like fable 3 no matter what they do. but do you think that bringing longbows back would be a bad thing? or setting a difficulty curve?

i'm all for open and undiscriminated discussion, but i can't help but feel your the one contradicting yourself. i'm assuming you post replies like these to encourage people who are submitting ideas, but it's also important to hear the negative side of these things. if a community only discusses the positives of a game it's not really covering every angle is it? essentially your doing the same exact thing i am.

Re: Fable 3 Not Sounding.. Fabley?

IMHO, Fable III will be great., it just needs to have a few epic boss battles like from the first Fable (fighting Jack and Jack the dragon was KICKASS, I especially liked the transformation where Jack was floating in the air), something that makes it look like the world is about to end (our hero against unbeatable odds, Lucien and Jack come back to life by Theresa's mistake, I dunno but it needs something epic, or maybe if Theresa used the Spire to her own advantage?) and it needs more originality, new monsters that make you **** a brick.

All in all, Fable III should be good, but if it doesn't improve on the problkems mentioned above, and fixes the dog and family because your family just bitches and moans and wife/husband needs sex every five minutes, and there's no real gratification to the whole process, (its almost like some horny developer from Lionhead put the sex thing in just to get a boner); and the dog needs to stop traipsing around, barking at everything and making you dig up useless items, even at level 5. And where'sthe promised combat help for the dog? I remember watching Peter play the Fable II demo and showing how your dog is a vital asset, it takes out the enemy most harmful to you, etc, but the only "combat" I've seen it do is bite a knocked out bandit on the ground to kill it.

Sorry for making that so long, lol

"if they don't properly assess the strengths and weaknesses" THAT was pompous. Trust me here. I'm an expert on overly pretentious phraseology, like "pretentious" and most especially "phraseology."

On the "contradiction" bit, the phrase "if Lionhead is as in touch with their fanbase as I think they are." Didn't seem to go with the rest of the paragraph, about how they missed out on all our great suggestions for Fable II.

I'm not sure what "setting a difficulty curve" is all about, but yes, bringing back longbows would be a terrible idea. The setting of Fable has moved beyond the point where longbows would fit in, and with the way they did the rate of fire on guns, they don't even have the rate-of-fire benefit they had over early guns in the real world. Basically, if they brought back longbows they'd bring back a weapon with less range and less damage except for a tendency to get stuck and cut up the interior of a body.

Maybe, but what did you discuss? You made a vague comment about "strengths and weaknesses," then had a confusing paragraph about how in touch Lionhead is with their fanbase and how they missed out on our great ideas.

what i think fable 3 will be like is this: you don't have to have played F2 to play F3, but it will give some funny extra's (maybe like statues of your f2 character remain, or books about his choices will pop up). i also think that your F2 ruler will be a good king, but maybe he get's overthrown by an evil entity, and you have to rescue the trone for your families sake...

also i hope we dont hear our f2 hero 'speak' because i'm afraid that will look like the zelda cartoons (the zelda cartoons absolutely rape all ur memories of link)
and since it will revolve around F2, i hope it will be less like a casual game, and more difficult.
i'm certainly liking the 'touch' idea, so i dont get all villagers to love me and nag me bout a wedding ring, just because my clothes and haircut look nice.

it's great that LH is in touch with their fanbase, but after all it's their game and its based on PM's idea's... so we get the input they give us.

really the only things i would like to see in f3 is a more difficult game, and hobbe pets

JESUS CHRIST!
My fable II hero WILL DIE!?!?!
Better not be some lame deal like age that beats him.. more like an army of a million officers commanding a trazillion-dadlido soldiers. or maybe just an evil son/daughter with overwhelming powers in both strenght (without looking like HULK) Skill and Will.

YEAH! I'll only be sadisfied if my own son kills my Fable II hero... or maybe I will kill him?!?!?

Yeah, I think that us revolting against the F2 hero would be a LOT better than having someone or something else take them out (Albion Knight's the one who I saw suggest that originally). But if they decide not to have us take them down, I would much rather have some cataclysmic even destroy them than, say, ****ant court intrigues or, yes, old age. Though I would prefer old age to court intrigue as the reason forn their downfall.

Re: Fable 3 Not Sounding.. Fabley?

I think it would be cool about the whole war thing. You and other kings attack other nations.. You can be evil and control Everything or be good and well.. Dont take over hardly anything and just defend you castle from evil hobbes attacking. But i think an all out albion war would be freaking awesome. Infact lol i wish that would of been the name. Albion War!
Or.. Lord of the albions lol. Return to albion.. Um.. When albion attacks! Too fast too albion lol ok i'll stop. but i think the other ideas i read on here would be cool.

I don't think you're going to end up overthrowing the Fable 2 hero. I can't remember where, but I remember hearing something about Albion falling into chaos and anarchy, so there is no specified leader while you try to obtain the crown and the throne.

Not sure where you heard that. Everything I've seen from the reveal conference says, very specifically, that you're overthrowing an "evil tyrant." They've very carefully not mentioned who said tyrant is, but they've been very specific that there is a tyrant who needs overthrowing.

Fable 1.
From what I've played, it has a great story and you're unleashing your true self in the guild, etc.

Fable 2.
Saving the world and avenging your sisters death and helping Albion recover from the Spire, or not.

Fable 3.
To become king and raise taxes?

Wtf LionHead?

Unless there's something that they're not telling us, it doesn't sound.. As in depth and as mentioned in the title, Fabley.

I'd prefer to be a kickass hero than a politician.

I heavily doubt that it would be that simple. From what I can assume gather, it's less about becoming king/queen and more about overthrowing a tyrant and reclaiming the throne that is rightfully yours.

I don't know about the rest of you, but that sounds pretty boss, especially since the game doesn't end after you become the ruler.

I have high hopes for Fable III.

EDIT: What the hell? No slash tag? D:

Yeah it's just like Fable II:
  • the one buttom system
  • Dog+bread crumb trail replaces the map
Everything turned out just fine, well except of the hero looking rather fat at all times (no thanks to the clothes).

By the way... Peter said: "I think there's something fundamentaly wrong with RPGs, something that's been there forever..." (something along those lines)
What does that mean? The only thing I can think of is: stats and experience..
Does Peter intend to remove the leveling up system? and instead increase your strenght skills and magic simply by using them? o_O

you'll probably be fighting against a horrible guy (or girl, im open-minded) to become king/queen, and will have to beat them to it, that or you do get beaten to it by this person and will have to overthrow them

Probably not. What you described works better in games like The Elder Scrolls or World of Warcraft. I don't see a similar system working well in a Fable game.

My guess is that what he's getting at has something do with weapons or armor. Maybe he intends to remove damage ratings? Who knows.

Remember that part in number 1 in the intro. "The boy dreamed of being a knight, an evil mage, being a hero..." Something like that. Now it's sort of being turned into "Will you support the farmers crops, betray the merchants or sign the evil tax papers."

Fabley indeeedle.

what you described worked well in morrowind. oblivion had a HORRIBLE levelling system, hence the levelling problem. and as for the skills levelling up as you use them, that would be bad if you got to a far part in the game only using swords and then decided to use guns. youd be extremely weak and end up getting bitched on by balverines.

Ahh the Oblivion leveling system...
A rubber ban around the controller can get you far in that game :D
I don't know what the "fundamental thing wrong with RPGs" is, was just throwing experience and leveling out there as a suggestion :(
