Really? f*cking magic rings?

So i read an article about fable 3 that states that it uses willpower via magic rings
and other magical objects....
Really? We don't have willpower ourself but get it off some object?
What happened to the old days where you could just push a button without something else (like charging up) and you had a cool spell.
Even if i was dissapointed in the magic system of fable 2 because i was a battlemage (and the charging up took to long to be productive) this is by far better then magic rings, I mean come on we don't have willpower anymore so we can't change from spell. and just a thought in my head:
Why does lionhead studios change things that were good,in fable 1 it just went so smooth.....

I agree with the fact that they put it in accesories, I liked Fable 1 magic system, where we didn't need rings to spell weave. But, I assure you it will be better than Fable 2s magic system considering you couldn't spell weave earlier.

Actually I think you use them as a way to combine your spells aside from spell-weaving

i guarantee fable 3s magic system will suck and theyll learn from that mistake and hopefully go back to fable1s magic system in four.

I think they should release a demo (unlickely) just so they could get our feedback, like what Bungie is doing.

I think you should all just stop whingeing (those of you who were anyway) about a feature you don't even know about. It could be the smoothest magic system ever implemented in an RPG for all you know.

The Fable 2 magic system isn't as good as the system in Fable 1, but I still enjoyed it. My only beef was with how much easier it was just to keep flourishing everybody and assassin-rushing when I was surrounded. I remember dying quite a few times in Fable 1. I found Fable 2 insanely easy! I ended up training magic just for the extra challenge.

John sounded like a asshole, but seriously, what article? I've been waiting to hear if we'll ever get any magic weapons/tools/whatever, but I haven't seen anything.

Where'd you see this?

Also, I would lean towards a wait-and-see approach. Who the hell knows how it'll turn out? All I know is the "spellweaving" deal they mentioned sounded awesome.

Also, I really do think that the idea is growing on me. Anyone here read the Dresden Files? Kindy ****ty, but highly amusing, and one of the features is a set of rings the protagonist wears that store up energy to be released as a weapon. They can't be used repeatedly, but they are a useful one-shot, low-effort attack. It'd be interesting to see something similar used in Fable. Say, you have a ring that can incinerate one person per fight, and doesn't cost anything to use?

Which would make more sense if they hadn't gotten rid of... mana in F2, but what the hell, I'm just throwing out ideas, since I have no idea what actual information we have about these rings you speak of.

Actually, I meant '74. I'm talking about role-playing games, not fantasy in general. :thumbsup:
