So, I hit "Maryland" on Wikipedia when I was looking for info on the suburb of Newcastle, in New South Wales, AKA a moderately sized city which is home to two successful rock bands and a burgeoning coal industry.

And the US Maryland page came up. And I went, what the f***? What does the US Maryland have going for it? I don't know a damn thing about it, or anything important that it does. I read its page and, yeah, it didn't do much for it. So I have no idea why "Maryland" automatically goes to the US one.

So that's my question. Which one do you think of? And where are you from? I made a poll, but you should probably post it in your post, too.

Obsiously, I'm a Melbournian and I think of Maryland, New South Wales. Melbourne is due southeast of Newcastle, and I am interested in the rock music scene and the coal industry. So that might have something to do with it.

Yup - cookies or Chicken Maryland.

Oh, and Walker.

I feel as though I should have put another poll option for the cookies, but I've never heard of them O.o

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKIES!!!

I instantly thought of the US state. I didn't know exactly what it was but I thought: "Hey, isn't that some place/thing in the US?". I guess I must have heard it in a movie or TV show. Or the news. Probably that. Could even have been some university or something. States take preference over moderately-sized cities anyway.

I have heard of the Australian Maryland however until your post I knew nothing of it really. And now I'm craving cookies...

Aw, you edited in the cookies option after I voted Other... :(
