I recently asked my father who is a strong "Christian" what the objective of their religion is, what are Christians supposed to do in life. I said "Is it to be more christ-like?" He replied with a simple yes, so I proceeded to ask "So what is it you do to be more christ-like?" He replied with "I try to handle situations like he does, I pray to God, I try to act like he would." Well I can honestly say he is does not handle situations or act, or speak about others or anything the way Christ would. So the only thing he has to honestly relate himself to Christ is the fact that he prays, whenever that is. So I find it hard to believe that he fully and openly (with pride) believes he will go to heaven. He constantly lusts and boasts about how good the food and music and everything will be in heaven, how "everything will be fair in heaven" etc.

I guess this is a good example of those people who do the VERY MINIMUM, VERY LEAST they can possibly humanly do to still get rewarded or pass.

Thoughts on the subject?

What is this? A religion thread?

Eh, doesn't surprise me at all. Christians rarely put to practice the principles on how to act and treat people that are taught in the bible. As Jacque Fresco said, christianity is a wonderful idea; when are they putting it into practice?

MOSS!!!

... did you know that in the Bible, there is nothing that says that Jesus wasn't a raptor?

Anyway, on subject: of course he's going to do the bare minimum and be hypocritical in his actions. Christianity is a western religion, they are all pretty crap like that. If you want true faith, take a look at Buddhist Monks.

Now that's dedication, those guys are hardcore.

Doesn't this apply to about 90% of everyone going to school?

Yea, but it becomes pretty different when comparing getting a diploma to getting into an eternal place of everlasting peace and happiness.

There's nothing in Bible that says Jesus wasn't gay.

I derp on Christianity, I just gave up on it.

Oh...

It's one of these threads...

Religion is a way to keep people in order and tell them what to do.. :troll:

Just thought I'd put something into perspective.

If I said I believed in unicorns, people would say I was insane.

If I got an ancient book to support my beliefs, I people would still ignore my claims.

However, if another million people believed me, everyone else would have to respect it as a 'religion'.

Religion 101.

I don't believe in unicorns. I just follow their teachings.
