Finally Microsoft have decided to reward you for the endless amount of hours you have spent for nothing more than personal gratification and a larger ePenis in the form of your Xbox Live GamerScore. Now it isnt merely a number to show how many achievements you have painstakingly gained it will net you the following...
Those with more than 3,000 points are dubbed Contenders and awarded a gift upon the month of their birth. Champions, who stack up 10,000 or more Gamerscore, are also entitled to a 1 percent rebate on all their Xbox Live Marketplace purchases every month. Those whispered of as Legends stand proud atop 25,000 or more Gamerscore, and get a 2 percent monthly rebate on all Marketplace transactions.
Users must have active Xbox Live Gold memberships and sign up with Xbox Live Rewards to participate in the program.

It's about time, now I can actually care about earning an achievement again.

Wonder if they'll have anything special for those nutters with over 500,000 Gamerscore (I hear Ray Cox just broke 750k).

This would have helped the past few years when i actually had an Xbox, not at the end of the consoles lifespan.

Kind of feels like a marketing trick for Microsoft to squeeze the last bit of life out of it's old consoles before next gen.

Holy ****, 500k is crazy, let alone some dude who just hit 750k!!!!

I've had so many accounts, my highest was about 14k

1 and 2 percent are so insignificant that I don't see the point. :/

If you buy a lot on the marketplace anything back is welcomed and I guess its better than nothing.

They will likely carry it over to the next console too.

But you gain achievements from merely playing games, you will play a game and gain achievements regardless of if you try or not as you gain some from merely progressing. Yeah you gain the higher scored ones from harder achievements but still doesnt take huge effort to get a decent score. Just to have played enough games to mount a decent gamerscore, I mean mine is around 37,000+ and I wouldnt say ive gone out of my way to get it. Getting something back (maybe it is very little) but something for merely gaining achievements is better than nothing.

Maybe the system shouldn't be as simple. Perhaps, it should take in consideration how much time you have invested, the amount of achievements for each game and so on. Just to make a decent discount like 10% or 15% possible for someone that has actually invested some time and effort in the games. (For example; if you spent ~1 year to achieve 30,000 then you get a higher discount than someone which took them ~3 years)

I was wondering if they could do a system based around the games, like say you have owned every Fifa title or CoD game (just examples of games with lots of titles) you could get large discounts off their DLC and other items on the marketplace. You have invested lots of money and time into the franchises so you should be rewarded in some way. Though I also see what your saying.

I think my gamerscore is somewhere around 6,000. My gamerpenis is so small. :(

So hold on here. I'm just under 2000 shy of the 25,000 mark but in order to get 2% back off things I never ever ever ever buy (aside from Skyrim DLC), I need to spend around £35 first to get Gold?

Sounds just like those "free gifts" you get from food packages whereby the small print explains you need to spend the equivalent of £15 on biscuits before you can send off (having paid for the postage too) for a keyring worth less than 50p. My maths is awful but I'm pretty sure I'd have to buy a hell of a lot off the marketplace to get back my £35 Gold fee which I would never ever ever ever use anyway other than to get my 2%.

No thanking you. Me no likey.
