Yeah it is quite true, Especially for me because I dont really see Death as the worst thing ever really.. Kind of "emo" as most people say, But it is true.
You'll want to describe him well enough for the reader to be able to form a mental image, but you don't want it to drudge on for too long describing everything in unnecessary detail...
Oh I don't have any disillusions of grandeur! I wouldn't be ever be able to write something good enough to be better than the master! The universe he created is amazing and if I can create a unique and good story within it, I'd be more than content.
Problem with that would be that Lovecraftian fiction is best suited to written by madmen. Even Lovecraft was pretty wacky - everything he wrote and all his stories are either based on his real life or his dreams.
Heh, thanks. I wish though. I've got like zero imagination when it comes to this. I'm flipping through tons of Lovecrafts stories to get inspired and be able to continue. I just hope my mind doesn't turn it all into a big rip-off in the end.
