Re: All the mysteries of the Legend of Zelda timeline solved by the Nintendo douche.
Well, I'm a "Splitist." Or... Was... And I loved the idea of it. I ofcourse never debated other possibilities... But I entertained myself with my own theories and ideas... I like seeing the strings connecting all the stories, I like seeing things in other times and how they changed. I like seeing fate play out and watch the pieces move on the board. The LoK series for instance (Legacy of Kain). You start out with the story of Kain becoming a Vampire in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, as he gets revenge. Then the next game Soul Reaver, is what happens when Kain doesn't sacrifice himself and creates a huge Empire of Vampires. Raziel, the main character of the Soul Reaver's, grows wings and Kain is jealous, so he kills him. Raziel through the game is just trying to get revenge. Then in Sould reaver two, Raziel Goes back in time. Sees how much things had changed, sees what happened, puts in his point of view. With Mobius in the loop, you get to see all the ties of history/fate. You get to know why and how everything connects in the timeline... If it weren't for timelines, then nothing would be connected.
So what if it's a different Link everytime. Can you not have each game at least be in some sort of order? Is it wrong to want to know the difference between the beginning of Gannon from the Ending of him? He lives, he dies... It's not a story book ending if there is no timeline! That is the way things go! You take out the timeline, you make every action meaningless. "Let's go blow up Hyrule!" "Wait, but how does that fit in with the rest of the games?" "It doesn't need to, as far as the games are concerned, they don't exist."
You see my problem with this? Okay, it comes down to (Okay, kinda abstractly, but still does) to one trope: "Tropes Are Not Bad"
Here is a very good and very true quote:
I'll tell you exactly what they want, Senator. They want chase scenes and car crashes. They want firm breasts and tight-assed Latino men. They want their cowboys to be strong and silent. They want their cops to bend the rules to get the job done. They want the boy to get the girl. They want the alien to be killed, unless he's cute. They want the good guy to win, they want the bad guy to die, hopefully in the biggest explosion the budget will allow. But most importantly, Senator, they want to walk into a theater and for ninety minutes be able to forget about the ****ing mess you have left of this nation.

Thank God for that Censor. I forgot that word was there...
