Another Foxconn employee has died. However, it was not by suicide.

A 28-year-old man, who married his wife (pictured above) three months ago, died from exhaustion in Shenzhen in his rental house after working a 34-hour shift his family claims. No official statement has been issued regarding the man's death.

Yan Li was apparently suffering from shortness of breath.

This year eleven Foxconn employees have jumped to their death at the company's Shenzhen factory. Foxconn has recently raised factory worker wages to the equivalent of US$160 a month.

They really need some health and safety officials to do a check on these places and make them follow guidelines more and safeguard employees health.

Indeed, increasing employee payment isn't going to solve this problem which they seem to believe.

Indeed, increasing employee payment isn't going to solve this problem which they seem to believe.

Could pay someone $50 an hour but work them on back to back shifts for long periods of time and their body will give out on them. Plus their productivity will drop due to tiredness and exhaustion, better to pay someone decent wage but give them time off and decent working hours to maximise potential. One shoddy mistake from an overtired employee could cause havoc for companies like this.

Foxconn Sees No Evidence that the Employee's Death is work-related

UPDATE on the worker's death.

Foxconn Technology Group said there’s no evidence to support a labor group’s claim that an employee’s death last week was work-related.

Yan Li, 27, died of exhaustion after a month of working the night shift at a factory in Shenzhen, New York-based China Labor Watch said today, citing his sister.

“We have reviewed this matter and while we cannot speculate on the specific cause of death, we have found nothing to support any allegation that it was work-related,” Foxconn said in an e- mailed statement today. “As a compassionate gesture, we will provide the maximum support possible to Yan’s family.”
