Anyone from California....
What kind of automatic rifle can I get when I turn 18/21? An M4 would be nice, but I'm not sure.

In Texas, you can get an AR15 (with some features removed or limited) for $800 used. In California, you can get an AR15 with no features whatsoever with 10-round magazines for probably more than $800.
In Texas, we have certain... markets where things that shouldn't be made available are available. I haven't seen what they have in the way of firepower though. I know that there are some relatively cheap night vision goggles there though. My California contact tells me that you can get fully automatic assault rifles if you go to the right places and talk to the right people at the right times, but I would not recommend seeking these people out, and don't break the law.
Have you ever tried running down a crowded corridor after shooting a rifle? Women screaming, babies crying, everyone knows it was you, etc. and so on. Rifles are for sport, the only guns meant for killing for the sake of killing (or the much less believable "self-defense" bit) are pistols.
Here's my question though - why is your (pantsontheground) emphasis focused more on getting an automatic weapon, be it a pistol or rifle, rather than an accurate weapon? Or do you intend to just shoot at the sky in the middle of a desert?
Got me thereJohnDoe;362398 said:No argument. The DC Sniper was indeed killing people with a rifle. But he was hiding in the inside of his trunk too, not running down crowded corridors. And agreed, FableFreak would be a useful person for this discussion.Well, a sword is believed to be a part of the spirit of a warrior in some cultures, and swords don't kill people from 2000 feet away. And there are strict laws on what kind of capabilities guns are allowed to have. And people tend to get scared when others, especially young, stupid people, start showing off guns. And this fear that they experience is quite appropriate. Now, I'm not anti-gun, I'm just anti-stupid people with guns. That you would say that you would want an automatic weapon for "looks" tells me that you shouldn't have a weapon, of any kind. I'm okay with people using rifles for sport, in fact my California contact likes to prepare tannerite to shoot at:
And see, no one is getting hurt here.Excuse me, but I believe it would be suspicious if you were sneaking around with any type of rifle, in my most humble of opinions. In all honesty, you'd look much less suspicious with a sniper rifle as the only reason to have a fully automatic weapon is to utilize its fully automatic capability, which is quite useful when robbing LA banks. Have you ever seen anyone rob a bank with a sniper rifle? No.

Grow some balls. Get yourself a battle axe. Everyone has seen a gun these days, but if you pull out a battle axe people are gonna start running. You should take after your governor, or should I say governator. He has the actual Conan sword in his office, readily available if he needs to dispense some buttkicking. He's the most awesome politician, evur!
yeah, you're right.*No such thing as a "fullest extent" in training.

A. He was joking.
B. You don't need a high powered gun as a civilian, PERIOD.
C. Giving a gun to every person in America opens many of opportunities for murder, and anyone can stick up somebody with a gun, it just at that point becomes a problem whether you are able to grab your gun, lift it, aim it and pull the trigger before he fires. It makes no difference other than as a deterent.
D. All of the above. (I am not anti-gun by the way)
