Anyone from California....

What kind of automatic rifle can I get when I turn 18/21? An M4 would be nice, but I'm not sure.

Re: Anyone from California....

Autos are illegal in the US, I believe. >_>

Further more, why would you want such a high-powered gun? Who are you planning to kill?

Re: Anyone from California....

Jeeze, where's FableFreak when you need him?

Sorry, that was all I had to say. Nothing useful. Join the Army, then you can play with M-4s all you want. Well, unless you end up doing, iunno, logistics or something. (No idea if there's a civilian version, or even what it's called. Go with JohnDoe. Them there Texans know their weaponry*.)

*Walker neither believes, encourages, nor enforces any Texas stereotypes for any purpose other than comedic effect, least of all those pertaining to Rangers.

The following is not terribly relevant.
Not gonna argue, John, but I have to point out that you can get away with using a rifle to just kill people. I'm from outside DC. Not all that far from Benjamin Tasker Middle School. I was in middle school when those assholes Muhammad and Malvo were driving around shooting people for weeks. On an unrelated note, gahdamnit those guys were assholes. They killed a kid, and a ton of other people. The whole damn DC metro area was living in fear for weeks.

Assault rifles have been banned in the states since 1994 and only the military and law enforcement handle fully automatic weaponry.

In Texas, you can get an AR15 (with some features removed or limited) for $800 used. In California, you can get an AR15 with no features whatsoever with 10-round magazines for probably more than $800.

In Texas, we have certain... markets where things that shouldn't be made available are available. I haven't seen what they have in the way of firepower though. I know that there are some relatively cheap night vision goggles there though. My California contact tells me that you can get fully automatic assault rifles if you go to the right places and talk to the right people at the right times, but I would not recommend seeking these people out, and don't break the law.
Have you ever tried running down a crowded corridor after shooting a rifle? Women screaming, babies crying, everyone knows it was you, etc. and so on. Rifles are for sport, the only guns meant for killing for the sake of killing (or the much less believable "self-defense" bit) are pistols.

Here's my question though - why is your (pantsontheground) emphasis focused more on getting an automatic weapon, be it a pistol or rifle, rather than an accurate weapon? Or do you intend to just shoot at the sky in the middle of a desert?

I just intend to have it for looks, and just hold it occasionly. You know, like how people in the Dark Ages (as one of my teachers called it ^_^) had like a sword and a shield on a mount.

And why would I want an accurate weapon like a sniper? It'd make me more suspicious sneaking around with a sniper than with an automatic, imo.

No argument. The DC Sniper was indeed killing people with a rifle. But he was hiding in the inside of his trunk too, not running down crowded corridors. ;) And agreed, FableFreak would be a useful person for this discussion.Well, a sword is believed to be a part of the spirit of a warrior in some cultures, and swords don't kill people from 2000 feet away. And there are strict laws on what kind of capabilities guns are allowed to have. And people tend to get scared when others, especially young, stupid people, start showing off guns. And this fear that they experience is quite appropriate. Now, I'm not anti-gun, I'm just anti-stupid people with guns. That you would say that you would want an automatic weapon for "looks" tells me that you shouldn't have a weapon, of any kind. I'm okay with people using rifles for sport, in fact my California contact likes to prepare tannerite to shoot at:

And see, no one is getting hurt here.Excuse me, but I believe it would be suspicious if you were sneaking around with any type of rifle, in my most humble of opinions. In all honesty, you'd look much less suspicious with a sniper rifle as the only reason to have a fully automatic weapon is to utilize its fully automatic capability, which is quite useful when robbing LA banks. Have you ever seen anyone rob a bank with a sniper rifle? No.
Got me there ;)

I never understand America's gun craze.

Re: Anyone from California....

You can probably buy whatever guns are legally available in California, provided your records doesn't have anything that would restrict you.

Re: Anyone from California....

Grow some balls. Get yourself a battle axe. Everyone has seen a gun these days, but if you pull out a battle axe people are gonna start running. You should take after your governor, or should I say governator. He has the actual Conan sword in his office, readily available if he needs to dispense some buttkicking. He's the most awesome politician, evur!

I couldn't of put it better. Whats a gun going to do if you are trained to the fullest extent of swordplay. I stocked up on quite a few weapons of mass destruction myself.

Train up good, mista Pants.^_^

Re: Anyone from California....

*No such thing as a "fullest extent" in training.
yeah, you're right.
But another point is why would you want a gun for decoration or just to hold as mr. Pants said. I think swords and daggers and such make a much better decoration than an M240 hanging up on your wall.

GOOD CHRIST! The man can't want a gun without conspiring to kill someone!? The gun control laws in california **** me off! Forgive me for saying, but in the "land of fruit and nuts", I bid you good luck on owning any kind of gun, Because people are scared s**tless of guns for no reason. They think restricting gun ownership will reduce crime. I pose a question to all, If you were a criminal and you knew there was a possibility the person you're about to mug was carrying a gun, would you mug them? On the other hand, if gun control is strict in an area you know that your victims are very likely unarmed and easy victims. I think every citizen in America should be issued a gun to carry at all times, who's gonna stick up that neighborhood? No body! Greetings from Texas b**tches! (end rant)

Re: Anyone from California....

Hi Mr. Fenrir;
A. He was joking.
B. You don't need a high powered gun as a civilian, PERIOD.
C. Giving a gun to every person in America opens many of opportunities for murder, and anyone can stick up somebody with a gun, it just at that point becomes a problem whether you are able to grab your gun, lift it, aim it and pull the trigger before he fires. It makes no difference other than as a deterent.
D. All of the above. (I am not anti-gun by the way)

Okay, now that statement is just laughable. Yes, there is no reason to fear weapons whatsoever. Because we all know weapons are harmless and not devices designed to kill things.

A. Sorry for the rant. I have a gun control button, he pushed it.
B. You need all kinds of firearms as a civilian, PERIOD.
C. Maybe you think you can beat that person to the draw but do you want to chance it? If so what about anyone else around.
D. If you want a debate open a new thread, I'm game.

Re: Anyone from California....

When the second amendment was written, the plan was for evey citizen of America to have a gun so that if the government turns into a corrupt one (caugh, caugh) that every citizen would rise up in revolution and overthrow it, and re-establish it as it was meant to be, for the people.

Re: Anyone from California....

^Yes and that makes no difference: Alot of people with pistols and rifles vs a government with rockets bombs and machine guns.
And if we legalised machine guns for civies we would have A tonne more of crime.
