Ask The Staff 'Anything'

Re: Ask The Staff 'Anything'

Do any of u skate or longboard?
or shlongboard? (its a thing, you know. slalom longboarding, i think...either that or short longboarding.)
or miniboard?

Also, who likes my signature? the underlined, italizized, purple part.

The though of any of the staff on a board makes me laugh. But then I tried to think of them in a pair of rollerblades or rollerskates and laughed even harder. I wonder if I could get Drakan drunk enough.....

STEPS: HOW TO GET DRAKAN DRUNK ENOUGH
1. Go to the liquor store.
1.a. Buy some liquor.
1.b. Buy some Funions to go with the liquor. Must be barbeque or ranch.
1.c. Buy some dip for the Funions.
1.d. Buy some containers to put the dip, Funions, and liquor in.
2. Take your bundle of containers to Draken's. Lay it on his doorstep.
3. Wait 3 hours.
4. Come back to find that Draken in stumbling drunkly around his front yard.
5. Shove a shlongboard under his feet.
6. Run and get a beach chair; repeat all of step one for stuff for yourself.
7. Sit back, eat, and enjoy the fireworks.

+rep if this guide helped you? :)

Well, I do enjoy a long schlong once in a while, that's true.

Half-half. I figure as an Aussie, I can comment on a Brit vs Yank debate relatively unbiasedly. The fact of the matter is that I honestly don't care.

I'm sorry, Arse, but no. He just wasn't funny. Maybe I just don't have the proper appreciation for standup.

You can't say that something is "not funny". Two reasons: you're biased. He's funny to me and everyone else because your locale is the butt of his jokes. Humour is also very subjective. Stop being a poor sport.

Dude, an Aussie I ain't. Football is football because it's called football. Well, that and because the rules it's played by are the bastard descendants of either rugby or soccer or both or neither.

You can't call it football if you don't kick the ball. It doesn't make sense.

You can't argue with that logic.

All in favour of renaming American Football to Handegg, say aye.

Can't say shlongboard with a straight face...sorry. And I have all the coordination. balance and grace of a hippo with several severe physical defects so anything involving wheels is a bad idea where I'm concerned.

I used to love roller blading. I even managed to somehow convince my parents into buying some obscenely priced Bauer Misty's back in the day. Man, I wasn't half-bad either...

Weeelllll... it wasn't a Brit-vs-Yank debate. It was "I don't think this guy is funny-vs-that's just because he's mocking your country" debate. Crucial difference.

Yes. It is subjective. I DIDN'T FIND THE GUY THAT FUNNY. I am allowed to do so. It doesn't mean I'm a poor sport. Because honestly the bit where he got so turned on by "girt by sea" wasn't that funny, either. (Wait, did you just say that it's funny BECAUSE he was mocking the US? How rude. Now my feelings are hurt. You know us Americans are sensitive about that sort of thing.)

Punt. Field goal. Aaand, yeah, that's about it.

EDIT: A question for the staff. My physics TA belongs to the subspecies of TA commonly (by which I mean, "by no one,") known as the Science TA of Indian Descent, or STAID. He was saying something about the z-component of a vector and I went, wait, what?

So, tell me: did the STAID young man come by his zed because he learned English from a Brit or Canuck, because he's a Brit or a Canuck, or because he learned English in India from whatever language-teaching structure you former colonial overlords left behind?

Also, I think that... Al Murray's his name, yeah? Al Murray's just bitter about that one time when the Marylanders stopped your navy cold at Baltimore. (We won't mention the time that the Marylanders cut and run at Bladensburg, leading to a certain unfortunate occurrence in the city near which I live and **** YOU WILLIAM WINDER. Hey, at least the Navy and Marines held.)
Somehow I don't think so, he has a degree in history but I doubt he reads that much into your beloved Maryland.

To anyone who wants to answer: Which country produces the best comedians? I'd say Scotland or the UK in general. Scotland produces less well-known comics but the ones that do make it are legends, e.g Billy Connolly and recently Frankie Boyle.

Re: Ask The Staff 'Anything'

I was being a slight bit of a smartass-- the battle the song is about ended with... well, basically, a draw. The Brit forces were driven off. But it was pretty embarrassing, and along with New Orleans allowed us to save some pride from the War of 1812.

And he was sitting there with his joke focusing on the flag, like "battle, what battle? What're you talking about? There's no battle."

Because I love to explain the joke.

Re: Ask The Staff 'Anything'

Okay, we could call it footegg. But that doesn't have a ring to it. I don't know how that can be called a ball. It just looks like... Well, an egg.

Why not Handball? I mean, could you really take the sport seriously if it was called Handegg? :ninja:
