augment research

Re: augment research

Note that you only get scarring when you get KO in combat.
So if your skills are good, your health meter is boosted, and you've got a few handy potions, you really don't need to worry about scarring.

Just a little tip ;)

Re: augment research

You really know your stuff! I'm extremely impressed +rep

I have 4 augment slot katana and 4 aug slot pistol and I was wondering what would be the best augs to put on them? :D

Re: augment research

I actually prefer Ghoul on my ranged weapon- it allows for sucking health away at a good range, plus the head shots (one hit kills) give a nice chunk all at once

in what monster does the the flame or killerwatt effect not apply?

someone on the official board says the guide book has some of this information, and he's hopefully gonna post it. it should clear all this stuff up...

yeah this is true. especially with the ghoul augment, it's almost impossible to get KO-ed. but the anti-scarring benefit is so easily combined with flame, shock, or skill that there's no real harm on putting it on there if you can...

the pure thing you kinda have to do that on your own but for the most dmg you put: any 'luck' any 'shock' any 'fire' and a devistation

Re: augment research

And to cut down on the need to dirty yourself with foods, ghoul is always a good thing to keep you pure and without the hassle of finding/buying potions.

Re: augment research

basically what they said, yes. for instance, i use something like:

  1. ghoul (melee) / barkskin (ranged)
  2. devastation
  3. flame's gift
  4. shockingly smooth
but you can move those six effects around a bit with different combo-augments.

anyways, someone on the offical board was kind enough to post data from the guidebook. it does show that (apparently) flame and shock do not affect all creatures. and so far (they've only posted human enemies) it looks like for a good character, the anti-evil might only bring good things.

buy the look of that only some human boss' are weak to fire/shock if not fire then shock if you get what im saying here, so if you put both on your coverd

Re: augment research

fantastic guide, +rep !

you seem to be the perfect person to ask about stuff like this so tell me if my current augment setup should be fixed. according to your guide I think there is a good chance I have augments equpted that do not stack.

first of all, if I have two different augments with similar effects that do not stack, will they stack if they are equipted to two different weapons (one on melee, one on ranged weapon) ?

ok, here is my current setup, let me know if I can make inprovments. btw, I do have knothole island.

Master Longsword (mostly unused)
- Hardwood augment
- Luck and Skill augment
- Bewitching augment
- Golden touch augment

Master Flintlock Pistol (main weapon)
- Golden touch augment
- Ghoul augment
- lucky charm augment
- shockingly smooth augment

especially since they both seem to work together. i suspect that the weaknesses come in different strengths -- so might as well add both.

there are only a few effects that are passive and work on un-drawn weapons. to my knowledge, those don't stack.

bewitching, unless you're really ugly, is mostly useless. on the pistol, you can do some condensing. lucky charm can be combined with ghoul (luck and life) or golden touch (it's not luck), saving you a slot.

Re: augment research

Golden touch loses worth once you begin buying real estate- money itself becomes a useless frivolity when one reaches 10 million gold. Buying things becomes a no hassle point and you'll be sure enough to get it. No more saving up and anything you buy, the gold used will be returned in five minutes.

It's best to go with ghouls, damage augs, and elemental augs- the looks ones don't matter so much if you have knothole island and access to the potions.

quoted for truth.

of course, everyone has different priorities in the game. and if you do need money (ie: you're early in the game) golden touch makes everything just a little easier. but me? i don't need gold. i don't need exp. i don't need to look pretty. just... stack on the damage, please.

yep, that's why I'm going to be using the scepter from the new add on, the daichi is great but the bewitchment is stupid, I'd rather take the 6 less in base damage and have 3 damage/elemental/alignment augs and a ghoul

master mace > scepter.

by one point. worst prize ever.

spend some time in knothole. buy up anything decent (good augments, four slot master anything), sleep for seven days, repeat. if you're gonna use a slow weapon, the master hammer pwns all. personally, i prefer the master katana...

except the number of aug slots. 4 aug slots on a blunt weapon :P

Plus it looks pretty cool.

4-slot weapons of every variety are available in knothole island.

Re: augment research

I have yet to see a four slotted master hammer, I've tried multiple times and it's been no good. Everytime I got there I check and still no 4 slot master hammer. I mean it probably exists but Fable 2 god hates me.

Also you're still ignoring the "looking cool" aspect.

yeah, sometimes it takes some persistence.
