Battlefield 1943

Okay, I have no info, just gonna say that is has been released today for those who didn't know. You can also get the demo. If you can't find it on the marketplace, try downloading it from xbox.com.

Have fun. I'm stuck with the demo, unfortunately.

Woohoo. Another World War 2 game (!) And it's an Arcade game! OMFG.

In all serious, WW2 games lose their purpose now.

The Battlefield series is great WW2 or not (im tired of WW2 games also but they have always been good), its online orientated and the PC ones are classics. Its the most impressive arcade title on a console yet and looks like its a full release title. I was a huge fan of the Battlefield series on PC and the community for those is still going strong, shame theres no 64 player battles on consoles though (stupid restrictions).

Re: Battlefield 1943

My friends did say it was good but they loved Bad Company, so... I'm actually not a huge fan of war games in general.. Except Gears, really

Bad Company was a step in the right direction for the series on consoles as the multiplayer worked quite well and for the first time it had a single player campaign with a story. Usually they just have the multiplayer modes recycled for single player with bots instead. However it still felt limited as the maps felt smaller, less players and just didnt have that epic feel the PC ones had.

That said about war games you have Halo 3 as last played game.

Re: Battlefield 1943

Don't see what's wrong with World War 2 games, I'm a bit of a WW2 buff. No war we've had since it has been that big or important.

Besides, today's war with the long-range missiles what-not aren't as fun as the old weaponry of the 30's-40's.

Re: Battlefield 1943

Yeah, I played my 30 minutes of trial, and that is a must buy.

Might give it a try out, or might just save money for some of the blockbuster games coming in next few months.

Re: Battlefield 1943

they need to make a wwIII game just take a stab in the dark of who we will fight next ohh... i dont know... north korea?:shifty:

Re: Battlefield 1943

probably going to buy when my sister lends me her credit card lol for points

Re: Battlefield 1943

I tried the trial, it's pretty fun, but if the only map is the capture the flag map, I might have doubts about playing it. (If the full version has different types of maps, tell me and that'll really make me consider buying it.)
The main grievance I have is that getting hit by a car is still instant kill, the kickback from assault rifles are a little annoying, and the power of melee attacks is very imbalanced.
Was still a very fun 30 minutes, as fun as playing Battlefield 1942 really, though I don't know if it'll get old/boring with one map type.
Also, what's the point of the rankings? Do they carry over with every game?

Re: Battlefield 1943

I'm not too sure. I'm going to buy some MSP and buy the game and tell you if there are any differences and if it is worth buying.

And 64 player online? Whoa! Was that to compensate for extremely large maps or something?

And we have a player restriction on the 360? Does it help prevent lagging or something?

Re: Battlefield 1943

Well I bought it, since a friend made me/paid for 1000 points.
There are 3 maps, all of them Capture the Flag style, apparently you do keep your medal and it raises overtime, though they are just for show (Mine is Sergeant Silver, it goes Bronze, Silver, Gold, then you move to a different medal class).

The restriction is because EA is retarded and didn't add enough servers, it's tough to join sometimes, mostly it says Games are Unavailable, but once you're in, you're in for a long time.

Its pretty fun, but it's 'real' easy to die, constantly.

Re: Battlefield 1943

With my 30 minutes I was only able to get to Private Gold or something. Then the game ended and it fingered me with a note saying my time was up and I was thinking "But I was doing so good with air bombing spam!".

And I had to wait for 15 minutes just to get into a game while constantly hitting "Quick Join".

But I miraculously gained another 20 bucks today, so I'm going to go out and get some MSP to buy it.

Yeah unfortunately until MAG comes out on PS3 console games have always been restricted to the number of players they have in one game. PC had 64 for the Battlefield series and another series had 150 per game.

That will be fixed soon, they released a statement about their servers being swamped and they didnt realise it would be as popular as it seems to be.

The ranks are pretty easy to get up to also, depending on luck/map/teammates, you can easily rack up tons of points (Gotten past 500 points once myself, 400 or so without dying once).

The inability to get into Quick Matches is effecting everyone right now, though the longest it took me was about 5 minutes.

Re: Battlefield 1943

Ah, I saw the message but I thought they would be a bit quicker with it. Oh well, not too bad as I don't even have the game yet.

Got to remember its an Arcade game essentially and they didnt expect the huge popularity and attention its received.

Re: Battlefield 1943

I actually thought there was going to be little interest in the game myself. I was expecting to join a game and find that little were playing it. Oh how I was very wrong.

Well its been boosted by its price and that its already an established highly rated PC series. As well as having Bad Company on consoles that was well received (sequel upcoming too).
