best photo editing?

What is the best photo-editing program in your opinions?
Im looking for not just photo-editing programs but something that i can draw things on. make sigs i guess. I have paint.net and im saving up for something better. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas of what i should get.

Re: best photo editing?

idk.. Im looking for more of an art program than a photo-editing program. I know there is alot to do with photoshop, but is there something that i can buy that has the ability to draw things on it and add to it. add effects to my drawings.

Re: best photo editing?

Photoshop is the highest quality program to do with anything graphics related.

Yeah Photoshop is probably the best, a shame you have to pay for it.

If you want something simple and free, download Paint.NET. Click here.

It's "the best free photo editing software for Windows."

Re: best photo editing?

I've never been able to draw stuff in PS very easily. It is freakin' awesome for editing photots, but I usually draw stuff with CorelDraw and then import it in. And I do like GIMP, but PS is better. And I also had a lot of trouble editing textures for San Andreas.

But you would probably be better off buying Photoshop.

Re: best photo editing?

Paint Shop Pro is a good, cheap alternative to Photshop.

Re: best photo editing?

Well, thanks you all so much. I'll look into it then. I was just making sure there wasnt anything else that i wasnt missing.
I use paint.net, never looked into paintshop pro. But I'll start saving up for photoshop then. Thanks guys!

Re: best photo editing?

I wonder how many people actually purchased these image editing applications.

Photoshop = Best for Image Editing

Corel Painter = Best for Drawing/Painting

If you're going to draw make sure you have a pen tablet/graphics tablet (I recommend WACOM Bamboo, inexpensive, reliable, and works as good as the higher models), no sense in trying to draw/paint with a mouse.

Re: best photo editing?

I'll save up for photoshop for sure. I tried out Flash and I find photoshop a bit more to my liking. What is the most common price for a good version of photoshop (Not going to spend a thousand $s like I’m seeing on some sites)
Btw, + rep for the info guys! Really appreciate it.

Re: best photo editing?

Darling, I got Paint.Net for free. I want to but photoshop because don't you think that it will be better than the free download? If i am making a mistake in my judgement, may you please tell me where I can get my free photoshop?

Had a feeling you would say something like that... I'd prefer to stay legal, my good fere.

While I do support legal purchases of quality applications, if you're just going to use Photoshop for simple image-editing and making some signatures.. you'll be ripped off. Which is why most graphics designers pirate it to hell.

I don't know if Adobe still sells copies of Photoshop 7, but if you're looking to buy legally it should be fairly cheap these days with pretty much everything you need (especially if you're just starting out). The more recent versions of Photoshop aren't that much different than PS7 (aside from CS4's layout), but they do improve on a number of features.
