Bethesda: No "Current Plans" for Elder Scrolls V

Written Sunday, August 16, 2009 by Dan Webb

In Todd Howard's keynote at the recent QuakeCon, the Executive Director of Bethesda Softworks told onlookers that there were no "current plans" for Elder Scrolls 5.

Howard simply stated, "there are no current plans for Elder Scrolls 5" which is sure to come as sad news for Oblivion and Elder Scrolls fans around the world. How about an Elder Scrolls based MMO? Howard said in jest, "there's always a chance."

Howard also went on to state that they were through creating any more content for Fallout 3. So with no Fallout 3 content and Elder Scrolls in the pipeline, what exactly are the studio up to? Howard noted that, "we are working on our next big game but we are not talking about it."

Whilst it is a little disappointing to hear that there are no immediate plans for the renowned franchise, the word "current" means that they aren't ready to nail the lid shut on the franchise just yet. What's probably more intriguing, is what their next title will be.
Source.

I hope that they do get round to it, considering that they might add an online system and improve the game based on the fan's input, I think it would be a 10/10. I just hope that if they do start making it, Bethesda will take their time instead of making a poor undeveloped sequel that seems to just be designed as a money maker.

Oblivion took like 6 years to make and was released 4 years ago and they still haven't even planned a bigger games yet? This is gonna take for ever.

Re: Bethesda: No "Current Plans" for Elder Scrolls V

I'm glad the have nothing planned. Now they won't turn into Bungie and reap off of one franchise that has died. Glad they are working on something new.

Re: Bethesda: No "Current Plans" for Elder Scrolls V

It will come but it will take some time, just have to be patient. All the experience they get from making other titles will go into making the new Elder Scrolls a truly epic experience when it comes.

Re: Bethesda: No "Current Plans" for Elder Scrolls V

Why does everyone say an MMO for Elder Scrolls?
I don't think it would ever work. Now, 12-18 player co-op.
That's where it's at!

The Elder Scrolls fanchise is far from dead. In Oblivion you constantly hear townsfolk talking about the crisis at Summerset Isle and the Nords preparing to invade Solstheim to take it back from the Imperials. I'd like to see that and play during that crisis.

And I sure hope that TES V will have a multiplayer option, we havn't had that since 97´

Mabey they should put some time into fixing the glitches in Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Just a thought, just a playful thought.

Yes but there are no player made patches for 360, and Iv run into some really annoying bugs, especially in Fallout 3. Just to name a few....

1. The "Perforator": a unique scoped assalt rifle thats really handy, unfortunatly it has a nasty habit of making the game crash.

2. "Point Lookout": I found a small room with a ton of traped baby carages, after dissarming them all and looting the room I tryed to leave and the game crashed. I had to reload a good 6 or 7 times before I could successfully leave the stupid room.

3. "The Pitt": while looking for steel ingots, I went on top the large steel mill, the one with the really tall smoke stack. Unfortunetly, I didnt make it because the stupid floor wasnt solid and I fell though and died. No amound of reloading would fix it. And no, I want somewhere where I wanst supposed to be, its supposed to be part of the map and many ingots are located there.

4. "Reavers": I found a ferral goul reaver that was extreamly hard to kill due to the fact that it was twitching and glitching and flying all over the screen. Damn near killed me several times befor I was finally able to hit it.

Not to mention several very well known exploits that they dont patch, but I'm not gonna complain about those. :P But I will give them some credit, I know of one exploit that they did patch. yay. :)

My disc is in perfect condition, and my 360 was not overheating when these problems occoured, its in perfect shape too. In sutch a large game, I will excuse the occasional floating tree or transparent rock, but some things are just unforgivable.

1) is your game scratched?
2)are you running it on ps3, pc, or 360?

because the ps3 version runs much much worse than the other 2 due to a rushed conversion. If not, i have no idea whats going on cause i have never had any of those problems 0.o

Re: Bethesda: No "Current Plans" for Elder Scrolls V

This makes me very sad face :(

I shall have to console myself with Fallout 3 GOTY when it comes out instead...but it's not the same...
