Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

I'd go the SG out of those two. It looks better, and it doesn't really matter at that price. Good if you're going to be playing metal, or heavy rock.

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Hmm... I'm not sure though. XD
I wouldn't just be playing Metal and Heavy Rock...
And I just Lurve the Les Paul. I'll see when I get to Guitar Center, cause I'm gonna try em out.
If I want great strings, really bendable, should I get Ernie Ball Slinkies? My friend recommended it to me...

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Slinkies are pretty good for bending. I used to use them all the time when I was playing alot (alot) of Pink Floyd (Gilmour's a big fan of banding).

What kind of music are you going to be playing?

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Metal, Rock, Heavy Rock, Progressive, Etc.

Here

If you can swing the extra 20-30 bucks
I love sg's, they are perfect for metal/hard rock
I also recommend dadario strings, they last longer, and are incredibly easy to bend. This one looks a lot better than that other sg, and is not too much more expensive.

I'd stick with a Gibson copy then. Humbucker pickups are suited to that type of sound.

I've got an Epiphone Les Paul custom for about $500 AUD. (about $300 in US). It's pretty good. One thing you have to remember is that the sound produced is made more by the amp than the guitar. Don't skimp on the amp.

DR strings are pretty good. They're wound differently so as to make them last longer. At least that's what I'm told. I'm really no expret on strings.

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Get Frank Klepacki's guitar:

I gave up guitar for lack of skill with it, but I still have it, and it is an AWESOME instrument!

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Well. That looks interesting. I am going to get the guitar later, as it turns out, I cannot return that expensive sweater my mom bought me for no reason.

>.<

I think I'll going to buy a Les Paul. I dunno, I've always liked it. You can always post up more suggestions though!

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

I have no Idea about Guitars.. Umm.. bass guitar, Rhythym Guitar and lead? Yeah? Am I right? :D

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

I have a guitar but don't know the difference between anything really, I prefer the look of the sg
and i don't think anyone cares much, but my father is going to meet Paul Stanley from kiss

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

^Its mainly sound quality of the strings and durability.

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Hmmm... Maybe I should get into guitar. I took some class a couple years ago and liked it. Too bad I sucked and it ended.

And the SG looks better. I dunno about any of the technical stuff.

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Of course you aren't good at for the first few years!!!!!!!!!!!! That isn't how it work, I've been playing for two years and I'm still not that great.
BTW Here is my setup:
Gibson SG special faded worn brown finish with some really high output gibson pickups (silver and red, don't know what they're called)
DOD Death Metal Distortion pedal
Morley George Lynche Dragon 2 wah
Marshall MG100HDFX Head
Marshall MG412A Angled Guitar Extension Speaker Cabinet

And It's Awsome For What I Need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Buying a new Guitar!!!

Nice dude. I can't really afford any of that stuff, twelve, can't get a job. I want to save up around $2000, but would it really be worth it, to wait like a year and a half to buy a Gibson Les Paul Studio and like a good amp? :O

Here is pwnage gear for begginers:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Roland-Cube-15X-Guitar-Amp-487030-i1169242.gc My first amp, no onboard effects, but it kicks ass in the tone area, worth it, and much better than any line6 or any other 15 watt amp in general, great for metal bedroom players like yourself.

Again, my first guitar, as long as you don't lean it against walls (put it back in it's case when you are done with it, it is a metal guitar, and looks awesome, sounds great, and plays really good too.

This is a very cheap but excellent setup.:D
