Cake or Pie?

Which is better?

Pie is delicious, but I will always prefer cake. If you put candles in a cake, it's a birthday cake. If you put candles in a pie, someone's drunk in the kitchen. Plus, has anyone ever heard of a girl jumping out of a pie at a party? (Jim Gaffigan anyone?) Not to mention that cheesecake is the cake family. Ooooohh cheesecake...you're so delicious...

Re: Cake or Pie?

Both.

OH NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

Re: Cake or Pie?

Neither.

I find the majority of cakes to be waaaaay to sugary. And that doesn't stem from any sort of health-nut mentality, I eat whatever I want. I just think that most cakes (especially store bought) are sweet to the point of being just plain nasty. Especially the frosting. Really I don't care for pastries in general, but if I had to pick one I'd go with pie. Pies tend to be made with fruit and don't taste like sugar on steroids.

Re: Cake or Pie?

I'm the healthy type ;d

Re: Cake or Pie?

Neither. Or both.

Necromancer, making me choose between the two elevates you to the status of a cannibalistic pedophile.

Re: Cake or Pie?

I'll never become a cannibalistic pedophile!

*Has a mouth full of food and is holding a blood-soaked leg* *Children are heard screaming from the basement*

Shut up dammit!

Re: Cake or Pie?

I love pie so much. In fact, on my wedding day, I don't want a cake. I want a tree of pies! <3

Re: Cake or Pie?

I think cake is a much more versatile foodstuff than pie. Think about it.

Pie has a pretty strict definition: Any variation on the idea of having a pastry container with some tasty filling. A mediocre pie still tastes good, and a good pie tastes very good.

Cake has a much more varied definition. Cheesecake, regular cake, flourless cake, ice cream cake. But a bad cake can taste pretty bad. A good cake can taste much better than a good pie.

not true. a pie does not have to be sweet, a pie can be full of meat or vegetables as well. even pudding! a mediocre pie tastes worse, as piecrust is a very hard thing to do correctly.

a bad cake can taste pretty bad, but even in the most incapable hands can be recognized as a cake. a pie can be anything from steamy-fresh-out-of-the-oven perfection, to a soup of over-cooked nastyness with floating crust here and there.

pie is the red wine.
cake is the white wine.

Re: Cake or Pie?

Don't forget rum cake! (Because we've all been eating cake and thought, "you know what this needs? Booze!")

Cupcakes are also a form of cake. Do we have cuppies? NO!
