I'm not saying the kid was smart by any means but hes still dead and he certainly didn't deserve it. Can we stop saying he did?

I don't recall ever saying he did deserve it, nor implied it, but do I think he deserved it?... no, I honestly don't. It is a real shame though, all I can say is the kid should've known better about it, and about his own physical limitations. Hopefully this incident will raise enough awareness so other kids won't repeat it.

This has become somewhat of a heated debate it seems. Although I do admit that common sense is a trait that most of this generation lacks, I'm still unsure about the child. Aside from him, there were probably his "friends" who might have talked him into it. Maybe they egged him on? Kids do fall under peer pressure easily, or at least the ones I know do.

Re: Child Dies form Recreating Scene a Japanese Anime Scene

So...I'm new here. Let me introduce myself...I'm an avid gamer, a former game tester (QA baby), and a fan of anime and manga. I'm also the 32 year old mother of two boys, one 9, one 14. I read the responses here, and I decided to test the common sense theory...I asked my 9 year old if he thought he'd be able to breathe if her were buried in sand. His answer "no, sand would clog my throat and my nose, which means I wouldn't be able to breathe". That clinches it for me....something went wrong, and it was obviously on the parent's end for not teaching their child the basic fundamentals of life.

I also noticed that no real blame was put on the parents of the boys involved...where were they? I understand that kids need to be kids, but shouldn't an adult have at least been watching them??? Seriously, who lets their kids play outside unsupervised anymore...do these people not ever turn on the news?

Largely, when things like this occur, I feel the parents are to blame...for lack of supervision, education, communication and above all else, for making the tv/internet a replacement for actual human guidance.

Kinda unsettling to see people insulting a ten year old child, who died...

I would do the same to you if you happened to be dumb enough to think you could be buried underground and live. Welcome to the forums BTW.

:D

I'm not insulting the kid for dying. I'm insulting him for the stupidity in which he died.
