Computer virus.

The computer in my room caught a nasty virus, I have tried everything in the book but it is a bad boy, chances are I am going to be limited to morning foruming for at least a while.

Re: Computer virus.

Viruses **** me off. I use macafee antiviral, its pretty good about warning you away from red sites but sometimes they slip through.

Tried Malwarebytes in Safe Mode? Any idea what the virus is? Symptoms? Where did you get it (if you know)?
Got it from a torrent, not porn or anything pirated, but a torrent none the less. I cannot acess anything in anyway, I have tried restarting my PC in safe mode, nothing. I can only try to system restore, but a few people on the net who had a similar problem said that rebooting it made it worse.

The symptoms are: Internet doesn't work and is blocked for 'viruses' all my programs are 'infected' and a bogus antivirus pops up constantly prompting me to buy their $60 dollar fake antivirus.

Re: Computer virus.

System restore always works for me, disconnect it from the internet first though.

It is blocking System Restore too, Control Panel is shut down, /:run doesn't work, she is FUBAR. And I can't get her fixed, what if the technician finds my naughties?

Re: Computer virus.

Find a technician who you know. You can always just reinstall windows on your computer.

Re: Computer virus.

Can you see your start menu at the bottom of the screen or has it disapeared?

Re: Computer virus.

Okay, I basically had to type in thirteen lines of code manually, reading them off the laptop so I could type them on my computer, system is restored, let us hope that worked, main priority now is to ditch this crappy anti-virus software and install Norton 360.

Re: Computer virus.

Norton wouldn't of helped you much after you let the file have access to your computer. Next time make sure you get a safe torrent.

Re: Computer virus.

I go totally ape **** anal over viruses. I scan everything that I download and scan even when I haven't done anything. If I get a Trojan I hit my brother because I know he's the one who got it.

Re: Computer virus.

Dude, if you want a good antivirus, NOD32 or Kaspersky. Seriously. I have 8 ****ing trojans neutralized right now and a crapton of viruses. Computer is fine right now.

Man, my I need to watch my brothers usage on my computer. He downloads porn like crazy and can't hide it to save his life. Probably where all the viruses come from.

Sounds like Vundo.

And for the love of God, DO NOT GET NORTON.

Re: Computer virus.

McAfee here.

and why don't you just reinstall your operating system? i was under the impression that that was a fix-all solution. windows recommends that you do it every 3-6 months anyway (not that anyone does) and just back up your precious music, pictures, and pornography on an external harddrive.

but then again this really isn't my forte. i did get a nasty virus once though and it solved the problem.

oooohhhhh JaaaayyyyDeeeeeeeeee?????????

Re: Computer virus.

McAfee and Norton are terrible in my opinion, AVG isn't bad. Smart browsing and downloading from safe places are your best bet... also, when downloading torrents always read the comments (especially if you're downloading from public trackers).

Shame about the loss of your naughties.

Re: Computer virus.

I have had MacAfee and AVG On the last two PCs that broke, my parents have used Norton for 6 years and never got a virus, my old PC never got a virus and had Norton, my friends don't catch viruses, they have Norton.

The Virus APPEARS gone, I have killed four infections, but ocassionaly when I am on the Internet, a random tab will pop up with an advertisement, that isn't too serious is it? How can I stop it? (I know this isn't a tech forum)
