true, and ya know what had me for a second, in the chapter when Harry and his friends are in Hogmeade and they meet Lonbottom again, in the chapter for the pic, i thought it was madeye=]
Yeah it did. There wasn't a lot of his character in the book and
having him go like that that quickly was sort of a surprise, although I knew there were lots of deaths that would occur in the book. Still at least he died a hero.
Re: DO NOT ENTER IF YOU HAVNT FINISHED HARRY POTTER 7
JKR pulled a Peter Molyneux In interviews she kept saying that "we will find out Harry's parents occupations" Wrong on that one. She also said that we would find out something incredibly important about Lily Potter. Well, she kinda delivered on that, with the whole Lily and Snape thing. But the one thing that she NEVER mentioned, and that she explicitly said in an interview, was that one character who had never performed magic before would do so very late in life. Ah well, it was a great book, the whole Hogwarts Battle was done brilliantly, with all the teachers and students, and McGonagal enchanting the suits of armor. I would've liked to have seen more of Draco though, like sacrificing himself to save harry or ron, or better yet Hermione, as he always called her Mudblood. This way, Harry just saved his ***, and Draco never says a word :hmm:
Re: DO NOT ENTER IF YOU HAVNT FINISHED HARRY POTTER 7
Yeah, I'm still wondering about the Potter's jobs. They obviously were very secret of course, but JK usually sticks to her word...unless by chance we missed something somewhere, but I doubt it. I guess we'll have to cope that they were Order members, etc.
Re: DO NOT ENTER IF YOU HAVNT FINISHED HARRY POTTER 7
That doesn't concern me as much as the character that "performed magic late in life" Who the hell was that? Perhaps Dudley, and that's why he was so nice to Harry?

Well I first though Ariana, but I'm not so sure. I'd have to skim through the book, which I don't want to do right now. My brains been dissolving every moment of that book and it made my head hurt.
Re: DO NOT ENTER IF YOU HAVNT FINISHED HARRY POTTER 7
Okey dokey guys, I'm allowing this thread as the book has been released and you have very kindly warned others in the title that there may be spoilers.
HOWEVER - please can you guys make use of the spoiler tags - as annoying as they are there are some things that really should be hidden until someone decides to read them and you know that somewhere along the line someone is going to have a tantrum because they dived in here before finishing the book and got it all spoiled for them.
But on topic, here are my thoughts:
the ending was super-convenient and the whole 19 years later thing was very tidy but predictable. I also didn't like the way Harry just watched in the Pensieve for all the missing links to come together and they could have fleshed it out a bit more. Still haven't worked out who the important people that died were - other than Snape - I was expecting maybe either Ron or Hermione to kick the bucket at least - not go and reproduce hairy ginger hybrids...the whole killing of Harry but not really was nicely done - I honestly didn't know how JK would get out of that one...
I really really enjoyed the book overall and I think she's done incredibly well to wrap things up the way she has. Whether or not she'll ever be able to break away from the Harry Potter fame and write something else remains to be seen, but if Ian Fleming can do it, I guess she can too. (For those who don't know Ian Fleming created James Bond but also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)

One of the trio to go as well, but I was somewhat surprised, but happy. Some suspected and unexpected characters died though. I had suspected one of the Weasley's would go, if not Ron or Ginny, but I never thought Tonks and Lupin would die. I really love how she described the scene of Harry in the Forbidden Forest and him using the Res. Stone and seeing his parents, Sirius, and Lupin. It was a very touching moment, especially when Harry was about to sacrifice himself.
Overall, she did indeed wrap it up nicely, and no one but JK could have done so. Kudos to her!

They should have done more with Sirius, he got kind of rejected I guess.
I think his part was over over by OotP, but still there were a lot of characters that didn't get as much attention as a thought, but then again JK had a lot to write about.
Re: DO NOT ENTER IF YOU HAVNT FINISHED HARRY POTTER 7
I REALLY liked it. I don't really care that the
Nineteen year later thing was "predictable". I'm getting to the point where I'm finding "realistic" depressing endings predictable I liked it. In fact, my only problem was how Mad-Eye died so quickly. I guess I don't worry too much about critiquing stories though anymore, heh.
Yeah, and now that you mentioned her...in a pm...it made me sad again. At least it was quick and painless, but hardly 100 pages in or so and people were already croaking.(Not literally of course)
Yeah. It's funny most of them were unexpected and rather quick, but I can't blame JK cause she had to continue the story and wrap everything up, etc. so it's understandable. I thought it was neat what Harry did for him. Not only digging the grave, but on the stone too.
