Fable Chat

Experimenting here at the request of Necromancer to help gain popularity to the unofficial Fable Chat at Chatango that hobbes_pwn started. To help the members get comfortable with each other and so they can gabble & babble about whatever without spamming the forums, plus it allows for group chatting which isn't possible in our profile visitor messaging. So this thread will be Sticky'd for now and if the other staff and regular members are opposed to this then express so.

i like it. may not use it all the time but i don't think it'll detract from server traffic.
all we really talk about is ongoing stuff in the forums and current videogame stuff anyway.

What I had in mind was see how this turns out for right now before we go all official and talk it over with Steve. I figured the regularly active members who would likely be using this chat from here are well-behaved and won't go all /b/tarded and abuse each other. Silliness is to be expected but I can't imagine the likely users to get serious and break out with horrible e-drama.

I can keep an eye on what's going on there since I'm here very often, but from what I've seen there's nothing to worry about (for now anyway). I agree though that a more official one with staff monitoring would be the best. But would have to talk with Steve and the others and hope for him to be able to make a chatroom available with a "Who's In Chat" status viewable from the main forum page for easy monitoring (like I've seen at a few other forums).

^I'd recommend just putting some kind of number after your name. Hell, when I was registering, the names Necromancer and Necromancer11 were both taken so I had to put a different number at the end.

Nobody was in charge to begin with, I think the chatroom is doing fine for being one with no one in charge and having no set rules. I don't see how these people aren't capable of changing their behavior if rules by the staff are set in place and we get some moderation in a chatroom.

I know where you're coming from (seen plenty of bad chatrooms before) but I disagree from what I've seen of this one after digging through several days worth of chatting in there from the page history.

If the other staff members don't find it as a good idea then this concept will be thrown out the window and we all go about our business, no big deal. Really, it's not like we're wasting valuable time by messing around with this.

If it was doing fine, it wouldn't need a thread promoting it.

The chat page has been around since march, it died a long time ago.

"Fine" as in the members' behavior (given the conditions), not in activity. The thread died but the chat page kept going on to this day, they just gave up on promoting it in that thread (for whatever reason) until they felt the need to come to me yesterday about it.

No, the chat did die after a certain altercation....

But recently me, ZJ, Daemon, Firis, Necro and a couple others have been on

Today the chat nearly died again. I don't think that it will work. I suggest doing what Stranger said.
