Gaming!

Many of you know, Gaming has become quite easy. (FInishing games.)

I recently pulled out my old Sega System and had a Jam on it.

I could not finish ANY game, Not even close! Why can't they make game slike that now?

Like "Tazmanian Devil" On the Sega Master System, Thats incredibly hard at some poitns but I love it! And sonic the hedgehog! I have the first one, I think? The first stages are easy, then it gets ALOT harder.

Have you noticed that, too?

Re: Gaming!

I have noticed that some games seem to be "idiot proof", with long tutorials for the simplest things. and should you need a sertain item to progress in the game, you will practicly trip over that item, rather than having to really serch for it.

But it really makes sence to me when I see my 13 year old cousin playing one of my games and screaming "wtf do I do?!!" because he payed absolutly no attention to any instructions the game provided. I find myself giving detailed instructions for situations beforhand, only to give up and do it for him.

It seems games are being made for people who cant be bothered to read the instructions, and also skip every scene and pay no attention to the dialog. they just try to "figure it out" as they mindlessly wander around the map and then die.

In short, people are getting stupid and lazy, and games are being made to fit these sort of people.

Square made a final fantasy directed af their American audience...... That game was a lot..... It was idiot proof :S

Square used think that FF was too advanced for Americans, well, they still might think that... FF has changed since the beginning

Re: Gaming!

A game being easy doesn't necessarily mean it's less fun though. Just less satisfying at the end. I think it's getting increasingly harder for game designers to make a challenging game that's fun, and not frustrating. In the end I guess it's better to err on the side of caution and try to make the game fun.

I personally like games like Assassin's Creed, which appear hard, but are actually easy. It gives you the illusion that you are the one using your skills to scale tall, flimsy towers, jump off, land in a hay bale the size of a 20c piece, assassinate 3 people and walk away like you never existed. In reality you're only really pushing a few different buttons.

Re: Gaming!

I have found just the comic that would express any of our opinions here in this thread.

Warning, contains bad language. :P

Re: Gaming!

I loved Sonic the First one! Theres another game aswell That I love too, Gotta find it first and Ill tell ya.

Yeah What TJ Said about us getting Lazy and what-not is pretty true.

"We are the Lazy Generation."

I just want to play a REALLY hard game, I never read Manuals or do the Tutorials, I read the dialog and watch the Cinimatics and what-not. but its just tooooo Easy! COME ON! I need a challenge.

Re: Gaming!

But why they are hard? Not because they have some mind-blowing riddles, but you have to be, like JohnDoe said, a ninja to beat them. You basically only needed super fast reflexes and that`s about it.

I thought Unreal Tournament was hard, and it has different skill levels. Give it a try, you can probably get it cheap as it is old. The version I have is old, 2005, I think. Unreal Gold was very hard.

They are/were put out by www.infogrames.com

Re: Gaming!

I am a casual gamer, I really only play games like COmmand and Conquer and some FPS games... Try playing more horror games, they aren't much harder, just a little more annoying... Try putting any game on hard difficulty... Bump it up a notch, don't start a game on normal or easy, go straight to Legendary.

Re: Gaming!

There is a pretty large decline is 'gaming skill', though I was always aware of it.
Remember a little game called The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? Yeah, well, I was about 10 when I beat that game, and I kid you not, college students (College town) would call our house asking for me to get help beating dungeons...

I grew up on Doom, Warcraft, Sonic, and an array of arcade games in the main build of my grandpa's golf course (God I loved Metal Slug), and most kids today can't even get through half of those games.

I beat it when I was like, 6 (good ol' 2002).

I grew up on Super Mario 64, Super Smash Brothers, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Kirby 64, and Star Fox 64.

I bet not too many people would think to use the D-pad for Kirby 64.
