I've been thinking about becoming a Gold Supporter for a while, question is, is it worth it?

it's up to you. all the perks are listed on the going gold page. you could probably do without them if you wanted. i like it here, i don't want this site to go down the tubes, so i did it.

But, for example, how often do you use the Gold exclusive abilities?

well, the following are constant so i guess i use them all the time. even when i'm offline.
Absolutely no advertisements whatsoever
Addition to Forum Team list
Increased PM storage capacity (100 total PMs)
Increased avatar limits (120x120 pixels)
Personal gold username colour and Premium Membership badge

Personal yourchoice@projectego.net email address
-this one i had set up when i tried it out for 1 month. i haven't gone to the trouble of getting it set up again yet.

Ability to delete own posts - maybe used it once.
Ability to toggle on/off 'invisible' user mode - haven't used it.
Exclusive secondary-navigation bar containing quick and helpful links throughout the site - i use this all the time. when i want to view all of my threads and posts started by me it's a pretty nifty and quick way to do it.

For the price I'd say no, but if you feel like donating to ProjectEgo, it's the best way to do it.

all you really need is a credit/debit card. you don't need a paypal account if you have that.

The features with the Gold aren't a reason to go Gold. However, if you want to donate to projectego then that's the option for you.

I miss having a gold name. Like its been said, the perks are ok but not really worth it, its really about supporing the site.

Yeah, it's more of a donation than a purchase. I did it because I love this community and wanted to support it.

That being said, I use the second nav bar all the time.
