I dont see alot of GoW 3 love around here, im a fan of it but not into the lore (like i am with Halo and Fable). Never read any of its books n' stuff, i only know what i got out of the games :T

Still, i booked the day off work to play it with mah bud.
Any one getting it on launch? after? at all?
 
Well, since I retardedly mistook Arkham City's release date as being this month, I'll probably end up getting Gears 3 a little after its release. Not a fan of its story and characters, but the games have always been fun for me and I already know what to expect with the 3rd, so I'm not going to be disappointed.
 
Preordered and looking forward to it, always had a blast with previous ones and 4 player co-op and horde mode should be great fun.
 
Mine still hasnt been posted yet, though guess it means i get some more time to do another playthrough of Deus Ex.
 
Bah, Gears is a shat game in my opinion. On the lower end of my "to get" list.
 
Looks like I'll be waiting til next week then, other money-sucking affairs have taken place.

Didn't like the art style for one. Bland for the most part, and the characters look ridiculous. Like everything they ate was laced with steroids. And the game was way too "cover and shoot" for my liking, not saying its a bad thing, just not my thing. And for the period that I did play it, the matchmaking was HORRID. But that doesn't really factor into how good the game is. :P

So it's just not my cup of tea. I enjoyed Gears 2 for a bit, but the novelty slowly died. But the chainsaw bayonet thing was really badass. I'll give them that.

Fair enough, it's understandable. I had some of the same issues as well especially the repetitive shoot & cover, I usually just take a break in between a few levels. Too much of the same thing non-stop is mind numbing.
 
My thoughts:

  • Why is everyone wearing a vest now? Everyone is going with armless armour! It looks stupid, I preferred the armoured look more. In general no character looks like they are supposed to, they only bear a vague resemblance. Take a look at Col. Hoffman, if not for the name and hat you'd never realize they are the same person...
  • Dom... what the hell man? He really let himself go. Take a look at him, the way he has grown a huge scruffy beard and messy hairstyle he looks like a hobo!
  • Cole... what the hell man? You lost your cool hairstyle for a stereotypical bandanna? You with the bloods or the crips, dawg?
  • Women. Women everywhere. They must've gotten some seriously angry feminists on their balls, because there are women everywhere now. I'm not against it, quite the opposite, but going from nearly no females to more than half of the characters being female.... feels strange.
  • The Locusts are still awesome as ever. You don't see them for the first part of the game, but once they show their ugly yet familiar faces... wow. They've got so many different models and skins in this one it feels that you never kill two in a row that looks the same!
 
well i beat the campaign on the first day, it was good. had its lulzy and sad momnets. now playing multiplayer with bots to get the feel for the maps and stuff. i never really played online GoW since no.1, i dont know why...
 
I got it at the Midnight Drop and have beat it, I have around 565/1000 Gamerscore. I'm a big fan of Gears of War, I think I first started playing in 2007, it's an awesome game.
 
I have a question:

Why is the Locust Queen a human woman? I was hoping that GoW 3 would explain it with a twist ending of the Locus being corrupted humans or somesuch, but nooooo. There was no explanation whatsoever.

I r disappointed.

the reason i got a 360 was

halo 3 was not even out yet but we all knew it was coming... And fable 2 i dont even think it was announced yet when i got my first 360 o_0
