My point is, being a fan of them can conceivably add you to a culture that is reviled on a very similar level to emo culture, so you don't have much room to belittle others as though your own views are completely perfect and not open to criticism yourself.
Have you ever even met an emo? Or met someone you think was an emo? Nine times out of ten, that guy who looks like he's just been through Beetlejuice's closet is actually a pretty decent person. When you get older, you just notice things like that.
