Hair dye?

I have really really long hair right, its 2 foot long. I have dyed it from my natural colour to darkbrown, black, had it atipped and dyed light brown, had blonde highlights put in it, had it dyed blonde 4 or 5 times getting lighter every time, then I dyed it brown again and then a darker brown after that.
I don't like having brown hair anymore and I really want like, white blonde hair. I asked my friend who recently went from brown to white, he bleached it three times. Would it just completely ruin my hair? If so how much would I have to get cut off?

Re: Hair dye?

I dont know much about hair, but bleach just ruins your hair and mostly your scalp.

You do not want to mess your scalp up!

Buuuut alot of kids are doing it these days.. Cant you just get Hair dye that is whitey/blonde colour? Not bleach.. Bleach is PRETTY bad.

ANd about cutting your hair, I have no idea..

Re: Hair dye?

Guys who don't dye their hair should totally just leave this topic.

It shouldn't ruin your hair, but leave like a week or so between each bleaching if you can. It will give your hair time to heal.

I dye my hair once every few months. Blue black.

Re: Hair dye?

dunno about bleaching it...but there is a healthier alternative... if you put lemon juice in it and get plenty of sun it will start to lighten the shade...making it able to be dyed whatever color you wanted, or left that way. (some say this method works better with a product than real lemon juice)

I have a hard time believing that.

here's a step by step

here's the chemistry behind it

^the poster claims that it does damage hair because you are exposing it to an acid. however it must be healthier than using bleach

i knew a kid who used to do it. supposedly it's better to use the lemon juice from the store rather than use real lemons. fruit pulp may make your hair a little nasty.
another product that was mentioned was called "sun-in" but i don't really know anything about it. just thought it worthy of mention.

Re: Hair dye?

Going from naturally blonde to black like myself, the black never says in very long, maximum a week. I'd assume that going darker to lighter would be an easier process. My mom bleached her hair blonde, and she's naturally brown, but it took her three bleachings to get it white-blonde.

But yeah, it will come out orange if you're starting that dark, you just gotta keep bleaching it till you get the desired color. Leave 1-2 week periods in between, like DS said, so your hair can heal.

Re: Hair dye?

I have never dyed my hair (my hair is naturally black). I don't know what bleach would do to hair.
@TJ: I dare you to bleach your pubic hair :D

Different question: Anyone know what type of store sells hair spray that can temporarily change your hair color?

any hair dying is temporary. you can get most natural colors at whatever the main grocery store near you is. if you want something more exotic you should check out the professional spots
