How do you cure hiccups?

There are a lot of random ways of curing hiccups, and I thought it could be fun to discuss and share some of the many ways of getting rid of it.

There are two methods that work for me. First one is just saying "apple" and the second is drink a cup of water from the opposite side you normally would, pretty much upside down. So basically you'd lean forward and the water would hit the top of your mouth.

Anyways, both of them work for me, the apple one isn't consistent though

I breathe out all the air I can slowly, then breathe in really fast, and then start gulping air. Then I hold it as long as I can, and then slowly breathe out.

And if there is water, I just replace the gulping air part with chugging that really fast.

I know the best way. IF your friend knows this, He/She should do this to you.

They say. "I'll give you a dollar if you hiccup again"

Then you dont hiccup afterwards, because you force yourself to.

It works everytime.

But you cant do it if you know they're going to say it.

Its soooo AWESOME!

I hold my breath and start swallowing (air ofc). I`m a bit disappointed, I miss the times I used to have long battles with hiccups, now I can make them go away in seconds.

This worked for me once, I had hiccups and in the exact moment the hiccup came out my friend suddenly hit me in the stomach, causing me to belch and the hiccups stoped. It was really funny, it sounded like "hic-*BUUURP!*". So now when I have hiccups, I try to hit my stomach and force all the air out just at the right moment. It works fairly well. You don't have to hit very hard, just relax and sort or squeeze and exhale as much air as you can. If you tence up to prepair to hit your gut it doesnt really work, you have to be relaxed. And swallow air and belch, that helps too.

My wife just holds her breath for 10 seconds; seems to work for her.

Funny thing, I just calm myself, tune the world out, look forward and pay attention on silence. When I come back to in 5 or so seconds they're gone.

limeade. its like lemonade, except you use limes, not lemons. so it goes: water, then sugar, lime, lime, sugar, lime, sugar, sugar, lime, lime. then stir vigorously until half the concoction has spilled. PRESTO

the main idea is to divert your focus away from hiccups.

one way i do is to just drink as much as i can.....chug. doesn't matter what, i'll be so busy drinking they'll go away.

another trick is to have someone slowly move their finger around while you focus on it as hard as possible. this ones a little wierd, but it's definitely the most sure-fire way i've found :lol:

I play video games or read a book or something to divert my attention away from hiccups. It works most of the time for me.
