I know you have to start somewhere, but COME ON.

People, just because you wrote it doesn't mean you should post it.

For instance, check out this fic that shall not be named:
Her tits bounced up and down as if they were made of gelatin. Cloud had always admired Tifa's big tits.
What the hell... is that? The only thing about this paragraph that I even like is the good grammar. The rest of it is full of what the flying fu*k.

This wasn't even a funny fic. It was meant to be serious, deep, and compelling. But then we catch Cloud staring at Tifa's boobs like a thirsty puppy. Is the author serious? How can this pass as acceptable?

First of all, we all know Tifa has big boobs. Who cares? They're old news. Did you watch FFVII:AC? Clearly she had reduction surgery. This is not erotica, do not focus on her breasts.

Second, Cloud admiring Tifa's breasts is wildly out of character. He wouldn't even notice them, much less stare at them as they bounced up and down. He's far too self involved for that.

And finally, please, never, ever, put "This is my first fic" in the summary of a fan fiction. Because I won't read it. The only reason I read this one was because it was rec'd to me.

Never. Again.

*looks at your avatar* ...

That's the average fan fic for you, doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Nice avatar, funny you posted this while having that.

You read my mind completely, I thought it was entirely ironic that he was getting angry about a straight male video-game character admiring a female video-game characters breasts but he has two male video-game characters kissing in his avatar... it's honestly not that big of a deal, it's the authors story not yours. It's not like it's in stores or anything. I'm sure you would be fine if it was Cloud admiring another man's butt, let's be honest.

I guess you have to be an author. o-o

Re: I know you have to start somewhere, but COME ON.

It is his style, big deal, I have a very lack luster prose but I still like it so I post it. And boobs are never old news if you are Straight or Bi, and sexuality could play a part as Cloud like Aeris and Tifa very much so though he never explicitly said "Rockin tits" he was attracted. Not that it should.

I didn't find that as humorous I found it semi-erotic and could belong in a drama story.

I don't know, I would have to read it to judge better, but just that itself seems normal.

Re: I know you have to start somewhere, but COME ON.

Anybody have a link to this story? I'd love to read it.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not... but I deleted it. It was sent via email as a .doc. I dunno if it's on the internet.

Re: I know you have to start somewhere, but COME ON.

I was being serious. I wanted to read it for a laugh, or maybe no laugh.

An author for what, to understand where you're coming from?

Like Sean said, it's the person's story, they can do whatever they want with it. It really isn't a big deal nor a problem, it's called Fan Fiction for a reason.

Re: I know you have to start somewhere, but COME ON.

On a totally unrelated topic, I found the best avatar EVER. <3

Re: I know you have to start somewhere, but COME ON.

I want to know what Tyloric's old avatar was.

Yeah me too..... By the sounds of it, it was highly hypocritical in this scenario...

Ellis and Nick from L4D2 kissing. And a caption spoofing the Twilight "Team Edward" things. <3

I've got a better question for Tyloric - what was your first attempt at fiction? My first opening was...Yea, I don't think I can be convinced to share the rest of it. Granted, I didn't talk about tits, video game characters, or video game characters staring at other video game characters' tits, but it was still pretty bad.

Edit: Also, Steve, fix the parsing so that <br> doesn't get appended to the end of my posts pl0x.

Oh god. My first attempt at writing anything was way back when I was about 10 or 12. It was a starcraft fan fic and it was... terrible. xD

Edit:
My first attempt at a novel: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1214761/1/Always_By_Your_Side

Enjoy the terribleness.

There is good fan fiction, and then there is terrible fan fiction, just like any other type of writing. Just because it's called fan fiction, does not mean it should not be taken seriously. Anyone who has read anything I've ever written knows I stand by this fact.

Like I have said, the author was trying to write a serious fan fiction. Does that paragraph look like it would fit in?

Excluding my earlier works... which are lolwtf bad.

^Ouch?

I am reading this book now with an incredibly cryptic and odd first page. I am on the third page and it is getting slightly better.

What paragraph? All I saw was one sentence.

I didn't say it never should be, the author probably tried to add a bit of humor to his/her serious story. Whether you find it foolish or terrible is your own opinion, but the fact remains is that in a fan fiction people can write anything they want, however they want, regardless if it should be taken seriously or not.

It is one's own imaginative creation that is not necessarily based on actuality or fact, if they wish for what's written to be true, then it is (for that person's story). Surely you can grasp and handle that fact instead of making a big deal out of nothing.

Second, Cloud admiring Tifa's breasts is wildly out of character. He wouldn't even notice them, much less stare at them as they bounced up and down. He's far too self involved for that.

This led me to believe you didn't even know the definition of the word "fiction".
