I was Fascinated When..

When I heard (I heard this A long time ago) That during The War, World War I, they were fighting in the Trenches, That when it was Christmas time, The Axis and Allies came out of the trenches and started playing soccer with one another and ate food together.

It amazes me still, I think its great.

Now, What has fascinated you?

That's amazing! That's so cool!
Ummm what fascinated me is when Obama got elected. No offense to anybody, but he didn't know what he was doing because he had a great "medical plan" and he would be the first black president. He wasn't the first black man to run.

Re: I was Fascinated When..

I've heard that story too, I don't believe it though. If they had enough sense to put aside their differences for the sake of one holiday, why not put aside their differences and not fight at all for the sake of not dying? I don't think humanity has advanced far enough for that.

I was also fascinated when Obama was elected. I was sure that the majority of America was still way to racist to elect a black man. Maybe they were just way to sexist to elect a woman.

Re: I was Fascinated When..

I'm fascinated by black holes, and quantum mechanics.

Not that I understand any of it, but it's cool to try.

Re: I was Fascinated When..

^You pretty much pointed out my flaw lol, Me: "Wow that is awesome!" Dr. Bob: "So, now that you have learned that can you tell me the physics of-" Me: "Woah woah woah Doc!!!! Let's not get too demanding here."

Re: I was Fascinated When..

Yeah I love Black holes and Space, Did you know that Black Space is kinda like a Holigram? (Hopefully I spelt that correctly) It makes things (Stars, Planets) look closer then they actually are.

Theres some knowledge for ya! :D

Re: I was Fascinated When..

I'm fascinated at how so many people in the world blindly follow the religion that they were brought up around without researching or even thinking about what they actually believe in.

Re: I was Fascinated When..

^ Can we leave the Religion out of it? It always turns into arguements in the long run, I know i have a few things to say about it, But im not going to. (And im non-Religious)

I am fascinated about fire, Its so awesome.

Re: I was Fascinated When..

I heard about this one too. If it is true, it would be fantastic. But unfortunately, since they spent their days killing eachother, I really doubt this is true.

Plus the language barrier would get in the way.

He was the first black man to get the official nomination. Jesse Jackson always put his name in but no one ever took him seriously.

I'm fascinated by the fact that people are so upset that Obama hasn't changed the country of America and solved all of the problems we have in less than one full year.

Maybe thats what so fascinating about it also, They got along, when they hated one another without even knowing one another and did not understand each other but still found peace in all of this, just for one day.

I'm not sure about them playing soccer in the mustard gas, shell hole filled no-mans land between the trenches (in fact I'm almost certain that's a myth), but there was definitely a Christmas Day ceasefire.

That also reminds me of a story that I heard about in Afghanistan. There was this campaign by this organisation to try and get the children of Afghanistan immunised against various preventable diseases, and they actually managed to get a ceasefire going with the Taliban whilst they did it. It was on a documentary I saw late at night, so I don't really know to what extent it is true, but I like to think it is.

sounds like thanksgiving...which i think is only a US holiday...so, thanksgiving in Europe?

Canada has it... Just that it is a month or so earlier. But is there thanksgiving in Europe?

As far as I'm aware, thanksgiving is a holiday to celebrate something about the American Indians. Since Europe doesn't have American Indians (or any Indians for that matter), they don't have it.
