Inglorious Bastards!

Just wanted to know if anyone saw it and what their opinions were on it. I loved the action and shoot-outs a ton. Thought it was pretty decent and funny.

Re: Inglorious Bastards!

it was well done for what it was. personally i didn't think the war movie scenario matched tarantinos style well at all.
allow me to nitpick, it was a good movie that i just wasn't prepared to see. war movie sitcom style :(

negatives
the non-linear story line, extreme violence shown casually (usually with regular character conversation), and dialog without an accompanying soundtrack (that is, lacking accompanying music AND background noise) but with uninteresting camera shots. it just didn't make it the movie it tried to be. the basterds (jewish-american guerillas led by pitts character) were everything that i wanted in the trailer, but with the lengthy talk scenes and any opportunity to see them in action was spread far apart by the other stuff. it's not that the story was bad, i just feel it was emphasized completely wrong.
for a movie called inglourious basterds, they really had a minor role. :frenchy:

if you're interested in the positives, i spoiler tagged them. i already said it was a good movie, and i think the negatives are what would help you like the film more.

positives
first of all, brad pitts character was very good. aldo apache (characters name) was just as redneck and cutthroat as i hoped. he's a great ruthless main character whos brutality is only rivaled by the humor in his low intelligence and humorous remarks.
the story and it's other characters are all good. the script for this movie was without a doubt made with lots of love. every camera shot to every plot detail was done perfectly, though that should be expected. this is is quentin tarantino we're talking about here...

here's the cliff notes if you didn't feel like reading all that in-depth movie buff crap. the movies good, i wouldn't miss it.

Re: Inglorious Bastards!

I'm not going to go in depth with the positives or negatives. I'm just going to say...

I LOVE THIS MOVIE.

Because everyone's entitled to their own opinion and it so happens that this is his opinion.

I asked why he thought it was crap. I didn't say just cause he thought it was crap he's wrong, did I? No. No need to get all defensive about it, lmao.

Re: Inglorious Bastards!

It was OKAY, Not Amazing, I liked how its all Bull****, which is good, instead of having all these movies trying to be Historically correct, this movie just showed how awesome they could be.

But i think it needed a bit more action to it, You'd think it had alot, but it didnt have much..

so about a 7/10

it's tarantinos first movie...sort of. he wrote the script, but didn't want to direct it for fear of messing it up.

Re: Inglorious Bastards!

I haven't seen it, but from what I know about Tarantino, I wouldn't have thought his style would suit a proper action film, which is what this seems to be. He's more about the interesting, non-plot related conversations, and convoluted, non-linear story lines.

Bring out the gimp.

The most ****ed up scene in any film I've seen. Reminds me of you, though.

Re: Inglorious Bastards!

Tsuyu as 'The Gimp' Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Creepy or cute? Leaning towards creepy.

Just saw it: Verdict, kicked ass, wish it was historicaly accurate, laughed alot especially when
Near the end the main Basterd tries to do the italian accent.

Thought the guerillas were pretty assholish though considering alot of Wehrmacht weren't Nazis and even some Nazis thought the Holocaust was druel and hated Hitler. But you can't take chances so I get it, just felt sorry for a few of the germans in the movie.

Classic Tarentino style, I was expecting
Samuel Jackson (He WAS the narrorator correct?) to speak the Bible verse in some scene where Nazis got blown away

Re: Inglorious Bastards!

Yeah, that would've been great to Samual Jackson do that.
