It's here...

Re: It's here...

I get my schedule next week I think.

School starts September 9 for me.

Re: It's here...

We don't need no education.
We don't need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Teacher, leave them kids alone.
HEY! TEACHA! LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE!

Re: It's here...

How do the years work in American high schools? You've got junior high school for two years (grade 7 and 8?), then in high school it goes freshman, sophomore, junior, senior? Crazy names. Just use numbers, like normal places.

Well...this is it. This is my last summer post of this year. It's 10:50 PM, I'm about to go to bed, and when I wake up, I'll be off...to school.

You won't be back until the 21st of September?...Porque?

There are a lot of exceptions, and America just loves doing things differently from everyone else anyway.

Most elementary schools go from 1-5...some K-5...and I guess (from your post) 1-6 which I've never heard of (which wasn't your initial question). Then, there's either Junior High or Middle School, which is normally 6-8, and then 9-12 in High. You can call them by their numbers, but we say "11th Grade" or "A Junior"...never "11th Year" or "An 11th Year."

Don't be a wise-ass. The summer break is over, so as far as most students are concerned, summer is over.

Ah, but your contradiction to calling it "Summer Break" means that "Summer Break" is over, not summer itself.

I was always well aware that the summer didn't end as school started, and that it started after school got out, in most cases. I used to have to walk home everyday (a good half-hour walk with a fast pace). I clearly remember there being very hot days...and it made me sad :(...

Anyway, I know, I'm literal, but I'd rather we know the truth than assume otherwise >D

Depends on where you are. My schools had Elementary (k-6) Jr. High (7-9) and High School (10-12). In some districts grade 7 is in Elementary, some have 6 and Jr. High and some have 9Th as high school. But yes it is freshman (9) sophomore (10) Junior (11) and senior (12). Although my school had 9th grade in Jr. High it still was considered a High School grade.

In short, its all bassackwards.

Re: It's here...

Oh right, I have school coming Monday. O_o' First year in high school, but I wish to go to university, to be an even better physics teacher. ^_^

Re: It's here...

My physics teacher was called Mr. Pickersgill and looked like a bear who had been hit in the face with a train. Nice guy but no idea what the hell he was on about half the time. Kept throwing chalk across the room and yelling how in space it wouldn't have fallen and hit someone on the head. So why did he keep chucking it, I wanted to know??

You'd have thought at an all-girl's school there'd be some attractive men but no. We had one guy turn up at our technology building but turned out he was in the wrong school. Just as well - some of those 14 year old girls would have eaten the poor guy alive...

Mine was hawt. We'd get coffee together and discuss thermodynamics if you know what I mean... entropy has room for all kinds of innuendo. Sadly, she was spoken for. :(
Thermodynamics... Yeah, I know. Though I haven't learned it at school yet. And I'm sorry for the latter part ='( but talking about phycis is still awesome. =D

I hope I'll be a better teacher, then. xD

''All-girl's School'', eh? Hmm... =D:P And I'm sorry for ya there were no guys, but at least you're good now. :D
Anyway, now that I'm at a mixed school, I do hope to find A nice girl. =/

elementary schools are kindergarten,1,2,3,4, and 5 grade, some oddball ones also do sixth grade. then middle schools are 6,7,8 grade. and high schools are 9,10,11,12. or freshman, sophomore, junior, senior. pre schools are just that, preschools, they are like a day care in which some basic things are learned. for small small children. and then there are primary schools, which are preschool-2nd grade private schools.
