Laptop Memory Almost Full

Basically, I have like 1GB of memory left on my pc. (I'm pretty sure I've posted it before?) and I go into my Computer and delete files and still... The memory wont go up to over approx. 4GB. Why?

Does anyone have any advise on what to delete and where?

Windows Vista, btw. I know. It's a shame.

Compress any unused but precious files. That's all I can say.

HOLY DAMN. What kind of laptop do you have? I'm sorry, I don't want to sound like a prick, but that is a tiny amount of hard drive space you've got there.

Go to your C:\Users\[insert user here]\Downloads\ folder and delete stuff from there, especially for like music or videos or whatever, because if you already unzipped/rar'd the music or video, then that's just double the space getting taken up.

So delete the zip/rar files of media you have, if you don't need them, that is, and well, ta-da, free space.

Use program called Ccleaner first of all and then uninstall any games you no longer play and have a general tidy up of unused files. Be surprised how much space you can free up this way.

Damn! I just updated that Ccleaner thing I never used, then used it P), and it cleared up 12 gigs of space!

Damn, that is pretty cool. Thanks Andy, I didn't think it would clear anything close to that amount. :lol:

Nothing wrong with vista.

1. Start menu.
2. Right click on computer.
3. Go to Properties.
4. System Protection
5. Uncheck the box next to your harddrive.
6. Press apply.
7. Check your hardrive again.
8. Press apply.

That should save you like 10 gb

I don't game on my pc or anything. I use my laptop for music, which i'll be adding onto my USB, and the internet.

Sounds silly, but did you check that your recycling bin is empty? I got cought by that the first few times I had space problems.
