Mr Mans Tricks Of The Mind

fun fact i picked up from a neuroscience course i was in no way prepared for and had to drop:

your brains internal clock is slightly longer than 24 hours. in a study where people with polio were sent to live in a moisture-rich cave (thought then to be a good idea, oh how they were wrong) they were not exposed to sunlight for months on end. their sleep cycle was gradually thrown off, and upon exiting the cave were completely out of whack with what the time actually was.

aaaand a geology course:
a homing pigeons brain has a mineral/rock attached to it which allows it to return to its original location by reading earths magnetic field. by attaching magnets to their heads, scientists were able to reverse the perceived polarity to the pigeons brains and make them fly back and forth.

Sounds like a lot of fun, I'd totally abuse that experiment. :troll:

I see... Everything is going well, mr man. Soon, you shall be my third commander as you have amassed another legion. The scheme is scheme is progressing strongly. They have no idea.

I had to do it. What with all the 'ruler of the world' stuff.

Anyway, the only thing that comes to mind (lol) now is something I had in school, recently.
Behavioral (?) modification. You use a system of rewarding and maybe punishing, to change someone's behaviour. When somebody (in my case, a school student, as I'm becomign a physics teacher) does something good, you reward them with something they like. If you keep that system up, the person will eventually connect the feeling they get when they get rewarded, with the action they did in the first place, resulting in an alreafy good feeling when they do something good.

I want to give some examples, but I can only think of one. Though, this does not use rewarding, which is usually a lot stronger than punishing (which is sometimes even counter-effective).
There was a school teacher, and a little boy. The boy often complained about feeling ill, having headaches, etcetera. Then the teacher got a se of colored cards with his name on it, and she places them on a table. She said that each time the boy feels sick, she will remove one of the cards. Needless to say, the boy stopped feeling sick. And it was all in his head that it was some sort of punishment!

But they who resist... They will be punished.

Its weird how when some one who isnt fond of you is asked from you for them to do something and they dont do it
but if you say dont do it they have an urge to do it
Reverse Physcoligy

Once my mum got a call from her brother at night saying that he got married
when me and my mum went to my granddads the same brother was there and my mum thanked him for the call and he raised his eyebrows in confusion
he said he called his dad (grandad) and when they compared the phon call convo they were the same.weird eh

I saw everything I was supposed to see but then again I go for regular eye tests which involve checking whether I can see things in my peripheral as well as the focus of my attention so that probably had a lot to do with it.

so you think its right that we should let people do stupid things like start wars

im not saying brainwash just study the mind and try and figure it out

What if another country is aggresively attacking overs or a tyrant is making his people suffer? It isn't so black and white as how your putting it. We as a race are naturally aggresive. It makes sense if we protect ourselves and others using force. Sometimes thats the only option.

are you with me or against me on that?
