Yeah, teachers like editing names, be it on purpose or accident. Change a letter, add a letter, drop a letter, whatever. For me they usually drop the "e," if anything.

See I have been put off certain names because of people I have met who have the same name. For example, I used to like the name Matthew but then my ex was called Matthew and he was a (insert suitable derogatory description). I used to like the name Katie - still do, but not as much - but went off it ever since there was this really stuck up girl at school who patronised everyone too much.



I like to know the meaning of a name too - the meaning of my name isn't all that poetic, to be fair (who wants to be called a fertile plain??), but the majority of names have beautiful meanings.

Hey, I'll get really random-- two websites that I use all the time to come up with names for story characters. Behind the Name - the Etymology and History of Surnames and Behind the Name - the Etymology and History of First Names. (Funny story-- I had no idea that another word for "last name" was "surname" until I read the first Harry Potter book. I had just never heard anyone use the word.) They're pretty cool, but I don't really know how accurate they are for meanings and all. Especially since they have names purported to be from all over the place.

Oh, and Tsuyu? The character looks like a dumbass, but yeah, I've always liked the whole Eugenics Wars thing; and the vaguely-Eugenics-Wars-related-non-canon-Original Series-novel From the Depths. The Eugenics Wars Volume 1: [Whatever the subtitle was] was also pretty good. (Let's hear it for Semi-Trekkies, everybody!)

One teacher I had called me Mark for a whole year It even ended up in the yearbook. A lot of people call me Scott :wacko: My Mom called me Keith yesterday my older brother's name

So I'm not the only one that happens to then? I'm always called Anna-no-Sha-no-An-ah-Sharon by my dad...but then he can't even remember my birthday :lol:
My ex's gran kept calling me Joan...no matter how many times everyone told her I'm Sharon, she just said, "no, I think I'll stay with Joan if that's all the same to you". The woman was clearly unhinged...:lol:
