Okay, so as of a little while ago when the forums got updated 'Rep' was changed into 'Likes'. You see a thread you like? +Like. See a post/answer you agree with? +Like. It serves no purpose really except the fact you can unlock 'trophies' or something.

Anyway, I was thinking, what if instead of 'Rep' or 'Like' was instead had something more Fable-like. I thought for three seconds and came up with a good idea.

As we should all know, we have two types of morality in Fable; Good, and Evil. So here is my idea:

Instead of 'Liking' a post, someone can click 'Good' or 'Evil'. Basically, if someone likes a post and agrees with them, they click on '+Good'. This raises that users 'Good Morality' up. If a user does NOT like something, the can click '+Evil'. This raises that users 'Evil Morality' up. So it is like a Morality system on the forums. There are flaws, but that is why I want some ideas to help out with this.

We could possibly receive special 'Titles' as our Morality goes up.

No, this is a bad idea. Not to mock your idea, but things like this have passed by, an number of times. Essentially, the system can be abused, with people saying ''I disagree with your opinion, ololol'', or worse... IT's fine as it is. Nobody gets shot down because of bad posts. If it's too ''evil'', the staff will take care of it. You can only feel better, when someone likes your posts.
Most people have agreed that it's not good to have the function to dislike things. Bad stuff can happen.

Still, it's good you want to improve ProjectEgo, so keep thinking idea. ;)

I just think we need our old rep system back. It was so much better, and I know that there are those who agree with me. I, for one, refuse to use the 'like' function because of its affiliation with facebook.

I did enjoy Rep over Like... much more... better? I agree with you Necro.

Boo hoo, it's similar to Facebook. Whatever will we do. EDIT: For the record though, I would like the old rep system back too. Hell, I still want VBulletin back.

Oh and thanks OP, I got a good giggle out of that. Everyone wants to turn this place into a tacky gimmick machine.

...It's the exact same function as the rep system. Only it's called 'liking' a post. Which is technically more accurate.

Well, there are two differences. As opposed to the Rep system, the Like system includes:
1) Everyone can see which people liked what post.
2) You can't add a private message to the writer of the liked post.

Frankly, I don't care. When I like something enough to make it noticable, I click whatever function we're using. Rep or Like. I never added a private message, explaining what I liked, because I thought it would be rather clear if. I liked thast post, and I don't have to repeat it. That's may view... :P

Please don't mock me and make it seem like I'm whining. This crap is getting really old.

I don't expect everyone to understand the decisions I make, but you make your own, and I'll make mine.

the rep system had that proportional thing i liked. rep power.
someone who has been repped a lot gives you rep, then you get more than if someone with a rep of 1 who joined yesterday did it.
also you could attach whimsical messages when you repped them.

Then what were you doing? Because the alternative (which is being rebellious because lots of people use it and like it) isn't much better, either.

Now, if you posted a reason for being against it that isn't a vague and meaningless statement, I wouldn't have even replied.

I've done so elsewhere before. If you really care that much, I'll find the post that I'm talking about, but instead of risking you telling me that you don't care in some sort of condescending manner, I'm going to go ahead and guess that you probably don't.

Well I am rather interested in the reasons for your hate on anything similar to Facebook, so sure, fish it out. Wouldn't it have made more sense to do that in the first place anyway?
