I've never had a facebook or a myspace, and I never will. I also refuse to capitalize the names of those sites (just like I do with france and names of religions). Although myspace is dead now (which is awesome), both of these sites are massive time wasters that start pointless and ridiculous bouts of drama from extremely insignificant pictures, comments, and statements. People also tend to get more shallow while using them by doing things like trying to get more friends than other people to seem more popular. As ScareCrow said, people also use it as something to hide behind. Because people chat on facebook instead of talking face to face, they end up acting tougher or cooler. Then, they turn out to be a total pussy or a douche in real life. For example, I was having a sh*tty day a while ago, and I got into an argument with one of my friends while we were texting. He said I didn't have the balls to say what I was saying except through texting, so I called him to say it over the phone. He then rejected my call and continued the argument through texting. Why do you think this is? He used to have a myspace and currently has a facebook. I've never had either one. You do the math.
I would also like to say that continued use of myspace or facebook tends to suck people into it, gets them more attached or addicted, and makes them more susceptible to everything mentioned in the rant above.
Enjoy.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to do that in the first place anyway?
As you can see, it's a somewhat long explanation, so I didn't want to type it all up again. I assumed that anyone who cared about my reasons for disliking it probably would have been part of the facebook thread anyway, but whatever, it's here now.
