Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

Two things in this thread.

I recently traded my Diablo II to a friend in exchange for Oblivion for the 360, and it is EXTREME. I got Martin to the chapel in two game days and proceeded to spend 79 game days doing the whole Dark Brotherhood questline, gaining every bonus in the contracts, taking the Black Hand robes from the Very Hard keg in that one guy's house, and becoming a vampire. Sad thing is, is I am an Expert in Sneak and things are hard to kill for a level 11, lol. But damn, being an assassin is fun. The achievements are really easy and fun, but time-consuming. I gained 200 GS in three days of having the game, just getting the first two main questline achievements and all of the Dark Brotherhood ones, and the latter can be replaced with any other guild questline you see fit.

Ding dong ditchers. F**king annoying when they do it, 6+ times for three weeks, even more so when it's an old friend of yours that is a total douche now, doing it at 12:30 at night. I got the asshole on camera and he's getting cited if he ever does it again, and the cop pretty much broke him down - from what I heard of the cop saying to him "Dude, we got you on camera, we know you did it." I lol'd so hard.

Funny thing is, is the kid who did it is an old friend of mine that hates me out of jealousy because I'm an only child. Unless letting people come over, stay the night, eat my food, play my games, use my iPod, and use my money to buy stuff makes people dislike you.

Anyone else have any annoying situation that turned out an epic win on your part?

EDIT - In Oblivion, if you have not updated it at all on XBox Live, you can go to the Talos Plaza district in the Imperial City, kill Dorian inside his house (The lock on the 360 version is a Hard lock), and loot an infinite amount of gold.

Here is a video on how to do it. Really easy.

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

Vampires are too much responsibility. The sun is like the freakin' devil. I hate it. If you don't feed for like 3 days it kills you in like 10 seconds. So I decided "screw that".

EDIT: Also, you can clear updates by clearing the 360's cache. Google it if you have updated.

Also, the dupe glitch does wonders.

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

i got 510gs in one day with oblivion:

100% the arena

100% dark brother hood

100% fighters guild

Evoker rank in the mage guild

Bandit rank in the thieves guild

and 1 form shivring isles

^all in one day, i started around 10am, and stopped around 2am... stopped for bathroom breaks and food
also shame on you for just now realising how awesome oblivion is - on my first xbox account i had 1250gs

"Ding dong ditcher" is a new term for me. I've heard the terms knock knock; zoom zoom, tommy knocker, ring rajes, ginger knocking, but never "ding dong ditch".
thats what i called it growing up... ppl cant do it to my house cus i have a huge bay window faceing the street so i would see the kids who did it running away, also my door is practically made out of glass so i would see them there any way

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

Be careful if you decide to cure your vampirism, doing so can make the game glitchy as hell for that profile. The quest itself is practically broken. I don't really like being a vampire in that game, the drawbacks far outweigh the perks in my opinion.

Just keep playing and learning all the cool things about the game, then you will eventually join the ranks of Oblivion nerds like me (and many others, I'm not claiming to be the best). A few weeks ago I got a new character to level 110 in just about 3-4 hours. Dorian is old news though, and there are plenty of other glitches to play with that are not patched. Anyway, Oblivion is awesome, enjoy the awesomeness you have just unlocked.

As for "doorbell ditchers" (that's what we call them here), I've never had a problem with them. I've done it to people once or twice, but that was when I was like... 10. Oh, one time in grade school a fat kid tried to kick me. It wasn't a normal sort of kick to the lower body either, he was trying to do some sort of ninja move and kick me in the face or something. Needless to say it didn't go well for him. I was easily able to catch his foot and pin his ankle under my arm like a football, leaving him to hopelessly hobble on one leg for balance. I let him stumble around for a moment before I let go and he fell flat on his back. He left me alone after that. I actually think he was trying to pick on me. I was never a very big, strong, or athletic kid, but he didn't stand a chance. Talk about bully fail.

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

yeah, assassins are fun to play as. currently doing a khajiit assassin/thief. very fun. however, im orried about getting past level 20 on this file, in fear of the horrendous levelling problem. ususally i play as a breton sword/mage guy, and because i hate the levelling problem SO much i usually max out all the skills i want before gaining a level. yes, i know, it turns the levelling problem so far upside downthat it creates a new levelling problem, but it's still fun. oh, if you're bored, create a MASSIVE frenzy spell (if you have s.i, the blessing of mania power will suffice) and cast it in a city, then go invisible and watch the lollage.

whodunnit quest = most fun thing ive ever done in a video game.

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

I killed my Oblivion experience the last game I did. In the vanilla version (barring official mods.) I managed to make a set of clothes make me 100% chameleon. Now it's just way to easy. I completed each major questline, and every expansion in like a few days.

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

Oblivion is still my favouritest game ever - so much so that I just used a word that doesn't exist.

As for people who ring the doorbell and run away (I just call them obscene names rather than a special title) well they tend to be little kids and I take enormous pleasure in screaming at them in the street for even daring to come up the path to the front door. Last little crap who did it tried to hide behind the bin and I caught him, gave him seven shades of verbal hell and told him if I caught him doing it again I'd batter him. I think he was about 6 or so and he almost crapped himself. Now he won't even look at my house - which suits me just fine. His parents really need to teach him to behave - either that or I will. And it won't be pretty.

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

Oblivion is by far teh greatest game I have ever played, I actually got lost in the game world when I first started playing. (My brian is easily manipulated like that D:) I thought the real world was fake and my oblivion world was real, needless to say, after a lot of therapy and some funny tasting pills I can enjoy oblivion without getting lost inside it's awesomeness haha x]

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

oblivions awesome. all of the quest lines are fantastic (my least favorite being the thieves guild). played it as much as possible, and waiting eagerly for Elder Scrolls V...which in the middle of writing this i discovered has been announced for 2010
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/bethesda_elder_scrolls_v_arrive_2010

as for ding dong ditchers, i prefer to put a needle infected with HIV. when i answer the door i can just say "come back again and it's herpes for you!"

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

Oh god, I love Oblivion so much. When I first got it, I was a... Kahjiit Assassin, and it was awesome. Then I became a Argonian. The Argonian got to around level 46 when I stopped, and 100% on the achievements. I never really used bows and arrows.

Until my last character, a Woodelf Assassin. Oh god, the bows are just so awesome. Just crouching down, shooting someone 500 yards from you and killing them with a shot to the head is just so satisfactory.

You guys should try out Fallout 3 as well. It's very atmospheric and, well, just awesome. I thought it was lame when my brother first bought it, but he dragged me in, and holy crap-on-a-stick, it was amazing. I never thought RPG's and FPS's would ever blend together. Now I've been proven wrong by Fallout 3 and Borderlands.

I loved oblivion, well still do. Every now and then ill go on and play, but it kinda bores me now, most games do now, though.

If you wanna make the game even more extreme, look at this!

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Roleplaying

This was a lot of fun, because I like to Roleplay, or make it seem a bit more realistic.

Have fun!

I use that as well. Its really good and I reccomend it for oblivion players, new or old

Re: Oblivion is ownage & Ding Dong Ditchers.

the roleplaying thing makes the game extremely atmospheric. and as for the 2010 release date, dont get your hopes up. i remember good old todd saying something at a recent event about es 5 not being in the works at the moment :(

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/15/elder-scrolls-v-not-in-the-works-theres-a-chance-for-elder-s/#

fallout 3 was good, but it wasnt as good as oblivion, and now im very upset at fallout for delaying es 5. however, a while back i came across this: whether its real or not....
