Parents...?

It doesn't kill to put up with a little indecency. Again, I'm not saying what he did was warranted. I just think that a more passive approach would have had a more harmonious outcome. Just saying, played only slightly differently, it could have gone a lot better for both of you.

It was the most passive approach I could think of - I just laid there.

What JohnDoe said. Communication doesn't only go one way.

Yeah, but there's no getting through to him. He's to arrogant for that.

u were well within ur rights to react the way you did, and to whoever it was who said they would call a child abuse hotline.......don't you think it would be more reasonable to do it because his dad hit him and not because he lost his xbox???

my mom used to work as a child therapist for the state of Oregon, physical abuse is more than enough to request legal counseling. then again, this sounds like something that doesn't happen regularly so it is probably for the best to just avoid all of the trouble.

Oh don't worry it was far from physical abuse. It was just a tap on the back of the head. What angers me is that he did it out of anger, not to try and discipline me (which wouldn't work anyway, I'm too far gone).

Dude, cause im a tweenager who is soon gonna be a teenager and I need something to keep me busy for the next 5 yrs, and it aint gonna be computer. i cant get lost i know where i am.

Lol fail of an excuse, i hope you seriously dont think thats all that will occupy you in those 5 years. The Tween (im guessing 13) way of life is alot different to the Teen's way of life. As is the adults way of life compared to a teen.

I have usefull activities that will get you through this aggonising time

1) Go outside

2) Soicialise (if you had no friends, go out and meet some.)

3) Go to the cinemas

4) Play a sport

5) Find a hobbie

6) Work (for money now)

7) Work (for money in the future)

8) Go to gigs (start to get really into a local band)

9) DRUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No serious with the nineth one in alot of my teens i thought im going to be drug free, however in aussie culture once you turn 15 it very much changes. And now some of my friends who abused drugs are completely stuffed.

Maybe the reason why he conviscated the Xbox 360. Is you were playing too much of it or avoidind work (like cleaning your room.) It may not be

I have been playing it an abnormally large amount of the time, but it's all I've got since he took away my computer!

I enjoy music a lot (want to make a career out of it) but I'm avoiding it at the moment, because if I start playing, I'll have to play my school pieces, which I don't want to do.

I know... Suck it up.

Re: Parents...?

I know you don't want to hear it, but play your school pieces and get it over with.

Once they're all done, find a couple friends who are equally musically talented and write some music.

Well unfortunately, I don't live with him. It's very difficult to make judgements based on hear-say from one person.

Wish I could help you out, but it really is a situation you have to sort out yourself.

Alot of record companies don't just hire singers and bands, there is alot of variety... Also I always dreamed of being a band manager. Organising gigs, photoshoots etc.

But i was also thinking for now look into local bands, and support them. It'll give you something to do.

The following genres are big in the underground scene:

Metal
Hardcore
Punk
Indie Rock
Rock (often they aint aiming to stay underground.)
Rap
Horrorcore/ Wicked ****/ Death Rap (Correct me which one it is.. It's the genre of Necro and Insane Clown Posse)
Techno (often amatuer though.. Sorry but i would never expect much, but guys that sit in their basement, mucking on the computer)

I llove Hardcore. But a mate of mine in America loves Horrorcore. Some states will have certain genres other won't.

Arseface, if you live in Melbourne i can help you out big time, i'm kind of rusty with other parts of the world.

Just so happens, I live in Melbourne. I'm into rock, blues, jazz, indie (remind me to explore that genre more though), funk... I have to admit I really not into metal of any kind, which is really annoying. Everyone is into fast playing and unintelligible lyrics. It seriously ****s me.

My main goal right now is to finish school, get a full time holidays job (retail or something like that), buy some good guitar gear, get a band started, maybe move out if I can scrape enough dough together. I'm going to university/TAFE next year, so we'll see where all that goes.

Re: Parents...?

I'm lucky enough that I get up almost instantly.(I still hate it like any normal person.)
(Normal day)
Dad: Wade, get up buddy, I gotta pick Jim up for work so I can't drop you off at school.

Me: Kaaaayyy....*shuffles to the bathroom*

I remember once, I got into bed, fell asleep, and the next thing I knew I was out the door, dressed and had eaten breakfast.Sleep-readying..?It's happened about...12 times that I can remember.

Oh and, about music...

I'M A BARBIE GIRL, IN A BARBIE WOOOORLD!
Life in plastic, it's fantastic!

COME ON BARBIE LET'S GO PARTY, AH, AH, AH, YEEEAH

Hey thanks. I'm having a listen to it now, some alright stuff. Once I get a job (which this has reminded me to look for) I'll start going out and seeing some of these bands.

You forgot to mention Progressive Rock (Kansas, Coheed and Cambria, Jethro Tull), and Progressive Metal (Dream Theater, Dragonforce).

Rush may be a little mainstream but they're in the prog genre, and prog is rarely played on the radio, except for Rush, so it's hard to say if they're mainstream or not. However, the radio music crisis hasn't seemed to affect Rush. And the rest of those bands are still going strong, especially Dream Theater, they just kicked off their new album in June, and I think it's Gold already, if not Platinum.

Re: Parents...?

Parent's can over-react to a lot of things. This isn't much compared to a back hand across my head but if my mother asked me to wash the dishes instead of telling me, I'd do them straight away or in the next few minutes. The fact that she tells me to do them, I don't. She does it a lot. So I see where you're coming from. I suppose communication could work... But it's if he'll listen.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

Try Agalloch, Dream Theater, and Opeth for progressive metal. Dragonforce are power metal.

I did mention Dream Theater. Dragonforce supposedly sits between power and prog metal. Remember, I got that fact off the internet. x]

Re: Parents...?

Okay you want Hard Rock? Otep, Deathstars, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Judas Priest, H.I.M, Cobreed and Cambria. Want Metal? Meshuggah, Behemoth, Bring me the Horizon, The Agonist and Underoath.

GAH Who cares whether they're death metal or whatever. Why do people argue about what genre a band is? It's the most stupid thing. There are only two types of music: Good and bad.

Yeah I realised a few months ago that that's why I sometimes don't do my chores.
