Well, unfortunately, I won't be able to fix my Xbox for about three more weeks. My fan still hasn't arrived at my house, and I just moved into my new college dorm today. I plan on being home during the first weekend in September, so that's when I'll have to get it done.

So...I got home last night. Today, I installed my new fan and put my Xbox back together. Here is the good news: it has stopped overheating. Here is the bad news: my disc drive won't open. Normally when people have this problem, the drive budges a little bit but won't come out. Mine doesn't move at all. The power light just keeps flashing like it's trying to open the tray, even when I turn it on without pressing the eject button. I even opened it manually with a paperclip and put a game inside. It was still trying to open the tray, so the game didn't start. I'm going to take it apart again and see if the drive is plugged in properly, but assuming that it is, does anyone have any ideas or possible solutions for this problem?

EDIT: Never mind, got it fixed. Somehow the drive got unplugged after I screwed the top of the Xbox back on. Now I just need to figure out a way to hook up Xbox Live in my dorm room. I don't think I'll be able to use a wired connection like I have at home, so anybody have any ideas about how to do it with a wireless connection? For the record, I have the original Xbox, so it doesn't have any built-in wireless capabilities.

EDIT#2: I've been looking around and I discovered the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter. How exactly does that work? Is it just like the Xbox 360 Slim's wireless capabilities, only on the outside of your Xbox?
