So, I just bought fabler.net...

...Like five seconds ago. Seriously. I would have preferred fable.com or even fabler.com but I've been itching to get my hands on a half decent domain with the word 'Fable' in there for chuffin' ages.

I haven't done anything with the domain yet - since I haven't even logged into my domain control panel yet - but I'm actually thinking that maybe we could do something cool with it. Any ideas?

Short story: I visit godaddy.com and namecheap.com almost everyday in the hopes of getting a silenthill .com, .net or .org variation because I'm a Silent Hill freak. And, just for the craic, I checked to see if 'Fabler' was free - and it was. Kinda cool considering it's been displayed as "taken" every other time I've checked.

Oh, well, now that we've got access to fabler.net - what should we do with it? Good ideas will meet with positive reppage.

fabler.net... at least it's shorter. Amirite?

Edit: For those of you looking to purchase a domain via namecheap.com, use the coupon code / discount code: GETMECHEAPER to get a little extra discount. I don't get any commission out of it, I'm just letting you lot know coz I'm nice like that.

Re: So I just bought fabler.net...

Skotekal.com is available, my friend! You may just have use for that namecheap coupon code yet! Perhaps I'll buy it and sell it to you at the low, low price of $100.00... Deal?

Re: So I just bought fabler.net...

Well, we can turn it into like a Fable guide like website, It's kinda hard to think of something that hasn't been done on here.

But for now, try to sell it, It's a domain worth the money to some people.

I have no idea but good job! Is it goign to a replacement PEgo, a sub-PEgo or is that what PEgo will be renamed too?
It's kinda what I'm thinking of at the moment. I'm starting to kinda like it... fabler... mmm. I'd make it so you could still access the site via the url projectego.net but all links throughout the site would primarily use the fabler.net address. I dunno. I'ts only really crossed my head within the last 15 minutes to be honest.

I really like projectego.net but people who got into the series during Fable II don't really know the significance behind the name "project ego" and how it ties into the Fable series. I'm sure alot of potential members have been turned away because they assumed that we were a site about something else. This is pretty much the only site within the network that has so much text in the banner as a means to avoid confusion.

Selling it did cross my mind since old domains can fetch a decent amount of money depending on how marketable and flexible a domain is. I can't imagine getting a whole lot for the domain but it's certainly an option. I'm hoping we can come up with a good use for it, though!

C'mon people!

Re: So, I just bought fabler.net...

I'm just trying to be original, but alot of sites did portals for example.

Fabler.com wouldn't be a forum but like it would have maybe a moderated chat system, I've also seen websites have certain arcade games that have members compete in a highscore, I can also wip up my sprite maker and game engine and make a Fable-like game if we get some support with sprites. Maybe have certain hosted Fable events, And like a giant playlist of Fable videos and a side bar of blogs.

I'm just trying my hardest of things we can do that hasn't been done on here if we were to make Fabler useful.

Re: So, I just bought fabler.net...

well, the obvious answer is making it an alternate URL... but thas crazy dawg!
you could make it a really cool portal site that blares awesome music, and has lots of George Takei pictures...yeah, i smell a new home page coming.

if you decided to make it a guide website (wiki?) like firis suggested, im sure that myself and others here would be happy to write for it

i'll second firis on this one. i can't imagine typing in www.fabler.com with any intention other than looking for help and/or info on the game.

Actually it was me, not Firis

:c

If it is a wiki, I'll gladly help! I'd love to moderate it for making the idea :3 And I have a vast knowledge of the first Fable games, and Fable II!

Re: So, I just bought fabler.net...

A wiki would be good, plenty of us know just about all there is to know about the Fable games. I once bought an official Fable guidbook just so I could have the poster it came with, and the guide itself is terrible! Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes everywhere!

Just a suggestion, you could make it a Fable gameplay video dump, for like LP's and stuff, tutorials, modding tutorial videos, etcetera.

I have always wanted to make a Fable LP since there isn't any good ones on YOutube, but I am underconfident about my LP abilities and I can't download any recording stuff on my dads laptop (Only computer Fable works on)

Re: So, I just bought fabler.net...

Personally, I prefer projectego.net. It sets us apart from the crowd. It still contains the fable reference, but makes us seem more devoted. The .net makes us seem like professionals ()

I don't think it should be a wiki. There's already one.

I really can't think of any good ideas (in my opinion at least) for it. I'm not really sure what your goal behind buying it was Steve, but from my point of view it's completely up to you what to do with it.

Agreed, Fabler sounds like a child who cant pronounce Fable properly or they have mistyped it and hit the wrong key.

First thing i thought when i saw Fabler.Net was that it was a typo. When someone asks in a bar what our site is called it sounds quite good to say Projectego but id feel embarrassed to say Fabler. Just doesnt sound right so using at as the primary URL would be a mistake id think.

Guess it sounds more like a guide name to me so could be a good guide site or hold the resources there. Might save them having a mere page on our homepage here that lots dont look at.

This is more or less exactly what I thought when I first read the thread title.

Sorry I can't input any more Steve. :(

Re: So, I just bought fabler.net...

Maybe make it a sister site that has all the bazaar and wiki info and cool pictures, like a nerd den or something?
