I was using a trainer and bought a Jack of Blades mask... and now I can't take it off!

You have to make it removable.

Go to Fable Explorer

Fable Explorer->OBJECT->OBJECT_HERO_HAT_JOB_MASK->CDefs->CAppearanceModifierDef->

There's an obvious entry called "Removable". If it is 0, turn it to 1.

Presto. 'Tis removable now.
