US skins cast vs. UK season 1-2 cast

I dunno if anyone on here used to watch skins, but this is bullshit! Exactly the same storyline but with dull and copied characters. Tony looks like some little Jewish kid, Cassie is 'Cadie', Maxxie is a girl and a lesbian, Sidney is some idiot called Stanley, looks terrible... Why do this? Have the UK ever made a version of Friends? Taken a shot at an english Simpsons? No, cuz it wud sux! What's next, American Doctor Who? Bleh.

QQ!

America is making adaptions of my shows! They couldn't possibly be etertaining in any light because be brits are superior in every way!

BOO. ****ING. HOO.

Fun fact: the next series of Doctor Who was filmed in America.

I don't think you could have an American Skins, and have it still be Skins. But they probably said that about the Office as well.

I watched the first like 15 minutes of the pilot last night before I watched the Cleveland Show instead. It's a cut for cut remake. Same lines, same characters, same story... damn you MTV. Skins is good cus each character kinda represented a different class in the UK. I guess. But this American cast seem so uncomfortable talking about drugs and hittin parties etc.
Tyloric. Have you even seen it? It's terrible. I wouldn't mind if it was good and original BUT ITS ****E.

I think that when you do a cover of something, be it tv shows, movies, music, anything, then you have to put your own take on it, otherwise it's just plagiarism.

Sure, the American version is exactly the same as the UK version, but let's face it - Season 3 and 4 were ****e, and Season 5 WILL be ****e. I'd rather they made a remake of what was good than make ****e versions of a once cool show.

Boohoo, it's a sucky show anyway, be happy that we can make it entertaining by throwing in flirtatious people doing drugs just like the rest of the shows on MTV. You still have a good chunk of other shows.

It's a British show you dummy.

You should give it more of a chance. I've never seen either version of this show, and I don't pretend to know anything about it. However, it sounds to me like you expected it to be terrible at first just because it wasn't going to be like the original version, then those expectations forced you to not like the show after not even watching it that much. I'm guessing you couldn't actually find a whole lot wrong with it, so you cited some similarities between it and its British counterpart and called it unoriginal, contradicting what you had previously said.

Don't let expectations get in the way of perceptions. Think about what your opinion on the show would have been if you had never seen the original version.

never seen the american one and just a few of the english..

it all depends on the taste.. many people can't stand british shows.. myself like just a few.. (hex being the main) i just pefer the american shows and i'm used to them

Nah, I'm pretty sure it's terrible. I don't like the actors, and it seems like they're trying to make it like Jersey Shore or some other MTV show. It's not Skins. Same as some would say Fable 3 isn't Fable-y. Lionhead could remake Fable 1 using 2's and 3's engine, but it still ain't no Fable 1.

I'm giving season 5 a chance but again the cast look like donuts.

Because the season's of British shows are typically way shorter. 6 episodes a season is common in Britain, wheras the standard in America (and Australia, for that matter) is around 22.
