Its easily explained, actually: Telescopes. You can peer out an incredible distance out in space, but we can't point them down to try and see what's at the bottom of the sea. Light is a big issue; space is pretty lit-up with the sun and all the stars out there. Deep down in the ocean, however, there is total darkness.

Thats why we have submarines and such with big lights, they have to be able to see or they won't accomplish anything but getting lost.

You can't honestly think you can explore as much/easily with a sub as with a telescope? Especially when the visibility is just a few feet.

I'm not saying that lol. I'm just saying that we wouldn't know alot we do know if we didn't have those. I completely agree with the fact we know more of space with telescopes than with the ocean in submarines.
