Upper Gums REALLY hurt...

Upper Gums REALLY hurt...

Well, it only started today, but the upper part of my gums are swollen, near my right canine (Er, whatever it's called.) tooth. Then, when I bite, my teeth hit it, and it starts to sting, or if I bite hard enough (Damn steak), it might start bleeding. Any halp?

Well you're too old for it to be a baby tooth. Inflammation of the gums is gingivitis. Take care of your teeth. Try gargling with a saltwater solution as well for a few days. If it doesn't get better, you can get a doctor to prescribe you Flagyl or a generic of it, basically it's an antibiotiblahblah you're good from here. I'll shut up now.

Okay. Argh. I had to do that when I was little too.
Is Gingivitis contagious?
Dear god, I hope not.

break your finger with a hammer, I'm sure that will make the pain in your mouth go away

Gingivitis is a bacteria that becomes apparent due to built up black around where the tooth enters the gum, generally due to poor dental hygiene. The symptoms are easy to notice: Inflamed gums, gums bleed after brushing, even pain from sharp contact.

Brush twice a day.
Floss and rinse with mouthwash once a day.

A solid week and it should even itself out.

Re: Upper Gums REALLY hurt...

brushing and mouthwash should clear out any infection that might be causing it. if that doesnt work consult a professional.

I only brush once a day and my teeth are fine. not a perfect picture of health, but passable. I should probably floss more though.

Okay.

Only picture perfect is acceptable with teeth. There is no 'passable.'

Unless its perfect, you probably have cavities.

Re: Upper Gums REALLY hurt...

I barely read this thread but I saw the above post: I have braces, a.k.a It is EXTREMELY hard to brush all the teeth everywhere, chances are when it comes off in a few months I will have a cavity or at least a pre cavity
