as we all know, work is joyless, soul deadining prossess that we all have to put up with untill we die. me? i work at Smiths grocery store as the seafood manager. i work with fish. lots and lots of fish. needless to say, i hate fish with all my heart. cant stand the stuff. not anymore anyway. dont get me wrong, the stuff we sell is perfectly good, but iv seen and smelled enough bad stuff that i cant stand the thought of eating any of it.

Re: What does everyone do?

I am not in an actual job, but as far as making money, I have submitted my writings to a local author paper, and have gotten $49 or so dollars in donationg in the past 3 months with only 3 entries :)
thats about it, I might work at krogers soon... I doubt it though :)

Re: What does everyone do?

I work part time at my father's business. It's boring, menial work, but I get paid enough to buy a new gun each month. Other than that I am still working my way out of High School. I'm a senior, so this is my last year at this godforsaken place.

Re: What does everyone do?

I also hope to be a website coder. Stuff like HTML :)

Out of curiosity, what kind of counseling? I'm taking an internship for drug and alcohol counseling (super regulated and therefore hard to get), but I already do anger management, "couple's therapy" (which I've only done once and will never do again) and relapse prevention.
My official qualification is crisis pregnancy - y'know, mainly 13 year old girls having unprotected sex and then wondering how on earth they got pregnant ...

But I generally do a wider range of couselling now - it all depends on what I am given, really. For some it's a relationship issue, for others there's a cultural or religious situation which requires a non-Westernised response (which is always interesting) - recently I've had it ranging from incest to suicide.

Very specific counselling, such as sexual abuse or dependency, is referred - I'm not about to step in that particular swamp. I offer what I can in the interim before they can see a professional in that area as I have experience in both those departments, but otherwise I get them in touch with someone trained in counselling those specifics. Anything concerning child abuse is not kept confidential and is reported to the authorities as appropriate - but that's the law, not mine.

Re: What does everyone do?

^I bet thats a fun job :)

Re: What does everyone do?

I sit on my bed, play Fable II, and watch as the cash from my allowance stores up, FOUR GRAND SO FAR BTW.

Re: What does everyone do?

I'd have to do that for about 4 years without spending my allowance to get upto 4 grand.. Hah!

Re: What does everyone do?

Thats from last year lol. If I never buy more than I have to; I will be a VERY rich man.

Re: What does everyone do?

^ good strat :)
I like to save up alot, I have enough money to fund me a year in college so far... and thats almost completely from when I spent alot... now I only spend a little...

Re: What does everyone do?

I'll get a scholarship for college and I get a car from Gramps if I stay in the top 10%.

Re: What does everyone do?

I could get that kind of money easliy. All I'd have to do is sell my gold-plated kidney.

Re: What does everyone do?

Ever watched the movie "The Big Lebowski"? Well, the character "The Dude" is pretty much me, except I enjoy beer instead of White Russians.

I'm just counting the days until my old folks have had enough of me and throw me out on me arse, really...

Re: What does everyone do?

^ Yeah same actually.. mgiht aswell spend as much time free-loading then not.. save money.. enjoy it at the sametime haha!

Well, some people enjoy it, I would certainly hope Angel does given her first post about it. But for me, I can't find enjoyment in it.
I do enjoy it, oddly enough. I think it's coz I've met some right characters from all over the world who are more screwed up than I am so I feel more normal

Incestual relationships are always interesting - and nearly always start with "we didn't do anything wrong but..." I'd never go into it professionally though - too much damn paperwork for one thing. Like going into Social Work - you spend more time writing reports and debriefing than you do actually making any damn difference.

All I offer is a stopgap service, really - just something to bridge the gap between the problem and the solution. Bit like a paramedic gives the initial care until surgeons, doctors and therapists can take over. It does the job and haven't dropped a client yet so at the moment I have 100% success rate. The worst clients are the teenagers who think the world revolves around them - takes a lot of patience (I have none) to sift through their "woe is me" nonsense in order to get to the real heart of the issue. My favourite clients are the middle-to-upper class American business women - they're just a whole lot easier to talk sense with, for the most part. Just so long as they aren't huge Maury fans...
