Axes are for orcs and brutes (read: boring/gey) Swords are for the most awesome character ever created... the ninja.
I mean how lame would it be if a ninja started swinging an axe?
or if link went "omfg I haf 2 faind a b3tt3r w3pon" and sum1 gave him an axe?
Excalibur is actually and axe...
or instead of lightsabers they'd have lightaxes, and Darth Maul'd have a double headed lightaxe...

In Naruto, none of the main characters use a sword as far as I know. It is also the reason all the kids nowadays are obsessed with Ninjas.

In Samurai Warriors and it's sequels Hanzo Hattori, the world's most famous Ninja did not use a sword, but a Chain & Sickle.

Pirates > Ninjas.

Sasuske use a sword... Orochimaru has one, Itaci has the best...
Sasuske + Itachi are the real ninjas in naruto, they come from a clan of ninjas who use swords and kunai...

I could care less about axes.. but hey why dont you gimme an example? show me a game or movie where a ninja use an axe... and I mean for their weapon of choice.

Ninjas use alot of wepons but mainly a sword (warrior monks use axes dont they?). Ninja's have swords with unusaul large hilts so when they draw it make it look like it will take longer to draw than it actually would giving them a edge over the enemy. Ninjas use allot of wepons and it is mosst likely that some brobably used axes

Plus how can someone use a Anime as evedence. FFS Naruto (I think) has power up and magic type stuff in it.

But I don't really watch that many movies, and I watch/read very little of the variety of movies and books and such that usually feature ninjas prominently. So no, I have to evidence, counting those as "evidence."

Some believe ninja used special short swords called ninjato, or shinobigatana. Ninjato are smaller than katana but larger than wakizashi. The ninjato was often more of a utilitarian tool than a weapon, not having the complex heat treatment of a usual weapon, and a straight blade. It should be noted there have been no actual Ninjato found, and their existence is purely speculative.
