The Devil is just a very powerful demon, not a deity by any means. Hel, on the other hand, is the daughter of Loki and as such is one of the Aesir. Also, whilst all women in Norse mythology are physically weaker than the men they are very powerful sorceresses.

As the ruler of Hel, she also commands an impressive score of minions, to boot.

Hey, you've read John Scalzi and you've read the Xanth series. Admittedly, Xanth is a BIT ****ty, but hey, it works.

I can't help you. Personally, I really like Discworld, for something specific, and for something general-- a lot of Baen (it's a publisher) science fiction is a LOT of fun-- entertaining, funny, and all that. Might start slow, but it ends up awesome (I'm partial to 1632, by Eric Flint, it was the first thing I read from them.)

But honestly, just find something you enjoy. I can't tell you what you'll like, but lighthearted humor usually works to one degree or another.

I know it's cool! John Scalzi is awesome! Philip K. **** is arguably even more awesome than Heinlein! That must mean that Scalzi's imitation of **** must arguably be even more awesome than his imitation of Heinlein!

But yeah, now I'm more excited by John Scalzi. Looks like he finished his LOOK! I'm Robert A. Heinlein! series, so now he's writing a LOOK! I'm Philip K. ****! series.

The title of the currently published book and the next one are both taken from Philip K. **** books, and the summary of the first one sounds a lot like a Philip K. **** book.

So maybe the guy doesn't have an original voice to save his life (or maybe he does because I remember laughing a lot more at him than Heinlein), but I expect him to be awesome either way. Thanks. I didn't know about the Android's Dream book.
